Performing Generic Text SearchesLocate this document in the navigation structure

Prerequisites

  • You have called up a worklist in transaction SE63.
  • Your translator profile includes the authorization object TSRC with value 01.

Context

The worklist screen enables you to perform a text search for all of the short text objects in your worklist. You can search in the source texts, or target texts, or both. You can decide whether your search is case-sensitive or not.

Procedure

  1. In the worklist screen, choose Text Search Text Search in the application toolbar.
This takes you to the Worklist: Text Search in Objects dialog box.
  2. Enter your search criteria. If you want to perform a generic search, use the placeholder *.
For example, if you have called up a worklist from source language German to target language English and want to find all short text translation lines that contain the English translation Document, leave the Source Language: Text field blank and enter *ocument* in the Target Language: Text field.
  3. Choose Copy.
The system uses yellow highlights to indicate which objects contain the text you searched for.
  4. You can double-click these highlighted objects individually to edit them.
    • If you want to edit the highlighted objects sequentially, choose Sequentially Process Highlighted Objects Sequentially Process Highlighted Objects.
    • To remove the yellow highlights, choose Deselect Deselect.

Results

The system searches for the text in the short text objects currently in your worklist, in accordance with the criteria you specified. Objects that satisfy your search criteria are highlighted in yellow.

If the text you are searching for is contained in a segmented object, the segments containing the text are also highlighted in yellow. For more information on segmented objects, see Translating Segmented Objects.
