Database ConsoleLocate this document in the navigation structure

Context

The Tools contains a display of the information for runtime analysis of database system bottlenecks detected when using the database tool XCONS (database console).

Procedure

  1. Open the Database Assistant (transaction DB50) or the liveCache Assistant (transaction LC10). Choose Start of the navigation path Tools Next navigation step Database Console/Console End of the navigation path. For SAP liveCache, you also have the option of going directly to the Console from the initial screen of the liveCache Assistant.

    The database console display is part of the DBA Cockpit and can therefore also be called as follows:

    1. Open DBA Cockpit (transaction DBACOCKPIT).

    2. The display options in DBA Cockpit vary depending on which SAP NetWeaver release you are using:

      • Choose Start of the navigation path Diagnosis Next navigation step Database Console End of the navigation path.

      • SAP NetWeaver 7.1: Choose Start of the navigation path Tools Next navigation step Database Console End of the navigation path.

  2. Select the required command. There are commands available for obtaining information from a wide range of different areas, for example, disk accesses, process analysis or memory management.
  3. Choose Start of the navigation path Database Console Next navigation step Execute Command End of the navigation path.

Results

The required information is retrieved from the database console and immediately displayed on the screen. You can save the results as a local file.

SYSMON Tables

If the database instance is in the operational state ONLINE, you can display the SYSMON tables. To do so, choose Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step SYSMON Table Display End of the navigation path.

Example

Displaying information about critical sections:

To do this, choose Start of the navigation path Goto Next navigation step SYSMON Table Display End of the navigation path. Enter the table name SYSMON_REGION.
