Business Process Operations Work Center
This work center is the central point of access to all functions with which you monitor business processes, data consistency, and data volumes.
In SAP Solution Manager, business processes are summarized in scenarios, which in turn are managed in solutions. A business process consists of several steps.
In the views of this work center, you can display solutions and the assigned business processes for which alerts have occurred, and filter by alert types. You can access the alert inbox as well as data consistency and data volume management.
You can get a quick overview of which alert types have occurred in the past or recently with how many solutions or business processes. Links enable you to navigate to the required area and trace an alert to the business process steps or technical interface.
You can also perform common tasks that you require frequently in this work area.
You are authorized for this work center.
You have created at least one solution and set up Business Process Monitoring with business processes, business process steps and technical interfaces.
Depending on the user role, the Business Process Monitoring, Data Consistency Management and Data Volume Management areas are displayed in the content area of this overview. Under each work area, you find links with alert types that are grouped as follows:
Solutions (Open Alerts)
Here you see the number of solutions with open alerts with a certain rating (red, yellow, green, inactive)
Note
Open alerts have occurred in the past for solutions and have not been analyzed and set to done yet.
Solutions (Current Status)
Here you see the number of solutions for which the current alert status has a certain evaluation.
Business Processes (Open Alerts)
Here you see the number of business processes for which the open alerts have a specified rating.
Business Processes (Current Status)
Here you see the number of business processes for which the current alert status has a specified rating.
In these lists, the alerts are sorted by their rating. Alerts can be set to red (very critical alerts, alarm), yellow (critical alerts, warning) or green (OK) or marked as inactive. Inactive alerts occur if an agent can no longer report an alert, for example in case of a system failure.
After each link, there is a number that specifies how many solutions or business processes there are with alerts of each rating.
Example
In the Solutions (Open Alerts) category, you can use the Solutions with red alerts (5) link to see that there are open alerts with a red rating in five solutions.
There is a list of solutions with alerts, which you can filter according to certain categories. The list shows solutions with their open or current (last occurred) alerts with their ratings.
You can display the details for the list of solutions and alert types. The details show you which business processes are assigned to each solution. Next to it, there is a graphical overview of business processes and assigned alerts.
Depending on your user role, you can also filter by solutions with alerts for data consistency management and data volume management.
Here is a list of business processes for which alerts have occurred, which you can filter according to certain categories. The list shows business processes with their open or current (last occurred) alerts with their ratings.
Detailed information is available for each business process, such as the business process steps, the technical interfaces, a graphical overview of the steps, and Service Desk messages for existing alerts.
Depending on your user role, you can also filter by business processes with alerts for data consistency management and data volume management.
From the Solutions and Businesses Processes views, you can go directly to the Alert Inbox. There is a list of alerts for business process steps of a solution, including their frequency. To filter the alert display, you can select from a range of criteria.
You can display alerts in two views:
List display
You can sort this list, for example, by evaluation, alert value and date, in order to get an exact overview of all business processes and business process steps.
Hierarchy view
The system displays the structure of business processes, business process steps, and interfaces. Alerts that occur are assigned to the respective interfaces.
For a selected alert, you also get the detailed information, for example, the history of the occurrence and the threshold values for assigning the rating. To call up the session for the alert in Business Process Monitoring, choose Goto Monitoring Session.
For more information about Alert Inbox functions, see Alert Inbox.
Data consistency management provides structured and context-specific instructions for all data consistency activities.
Here is an overview of already created tasks and tools for checking and restoring data consistency. You can call up the corresponding sessions or create new ones.
You can get the system to suggest tasks and tools for checking and restoring data consistency. The respective proposals depend on certain events as well as the specified SAP product or business object.
For data volume management, SAP provides the SAP Data Volume Management service portfolio. The services contained in this portfolio help you to reduce total operating costs by decreasing the size of the databases and the monthly increse in data. The service portfolio is available to all SAP customers worldwide. It currently includes the services Data Volume Management/Strategy, Data Volume Management/Scoping, and Data Volume Management/Reporting.
If you are using these services, you can access them in data volume management. You can also set up alerts for data volume monitoring, which you can monitor.
You can extract the data entered in Business Process Monitoring to a BI system. In the BI system, the data for the last weeks and months can be used to determine trends. This way you can detect possible problems early and avoid them.
Depending on the system settings and your authorizations, you can open, change, or delete existing reports (BI templates). To do so, you access a dashboard from the SAP Solution Manager content.
You can perform the following tasks from any view in the work center:
You can call the solution directory for a selected solution.
You can call Business Process Monitoring for a selected solution, for example, to configure the alert settings.
