The Maintenance Optimizer provides a lot of scenarios for performing maintenance procedures. You can, for example, approve and download files in the download basket, locally to your PC. The Maintenance Optimizer also leads you through the procedures required to plan maintenance transactions and download and implement support package stacks, enhancement packages and patches.

The Maintenance Optimizer provides a guided procedure for all available scenarios.

Procedure

Maintenance Procedure Scenarios

The Maintenance Optimizer contains a lot of scenarios for maintenence procedures.

Information about steps which are common to all procedures is under Access and General Steps.

Which scenario you can perform depends on the product version which you specify when you create the maintenance procedure. Some of the most common scenarios for using the Maintenance Optimizer are:

  • Scenario 1: Approve and Download Files in Download Basket

    Use this scenario if you want to approve and download files in your download basket, for a product version. You can put files either in the SAP Service Marketplace, or directly in the download basket in the Maintenance Optimizer.

  • Scenario 2: Maintenance Procedure with Installation of a Support Package Stack

    Use this scenario if you want to perform a maintenance procedure for a product version in which a support package stack is to be installed. In this procedure, an SAP support package stack is installed. Support package stacks are sets of support packages which have been tested together by SAP.

  • Scenario 3: Maintenance Procedure with Installation of an Enhancement Package

    Use this scenario if you want to install an enhancement package for a product version. This option is available if there is an enhancement package for the selected product version.

  • Scenario 4: Upgrade with Installation of an Enhancement Package

    If your product version can be upgraded to SAP ERP 6.0, the option Upgrade is available. In this scenario, the Maintenance Optimizer combines the upgrade to SAP ERP 6.0 with the iInstallation of an enhancement package.

    Example Example

    If you have chosen the product version SAP ERP 6.0 you can now choose between maintaining, that is installing a support package stack, and installing an enhancement package.

    If you have chosen a product version for whicc maintenance and upgrade to SAP ERP 6.0 are possible, you can choose between: maintenance of one or more assigned systems, and upgrade to SAP ERP 6.0 with installation of an enhancement package.
