Modeling Embedded Processes
In this IT process you define a business process model from a business perspective. You then use this process model to derive the required embedded processes and to model the relevant workflows. You also define the organizational plan of your business.
You can use ARIS for SAP NetWeaver as the modeling environment for the business perspective. To model workflows, you use the Workflow Builder, which supports graphical modeling.
You can use the workflows shipped by SAP as templates, and adapt and enhance them to suit your specific needs. You can also define your own tasks and workflows.

Prerequisites
You want to automate business processes embedded in SAP applications by means of SAP Business Workflow.
1. Define the organizational plan (AS ABAP)
To allow tasks to be assigned to the relevant agents, you define your company’s organizational plan using the organizational management tools.
2. Define workflow strategy in a model (ARIS for SAP NetWeaver).
You define the business process model from a business perspective, which is to be implemented by means of embedded processes. You can use ARIS for SAP NetWeaver to analyze and document embedded processes.
3. Use workflow templates (AS ABAP).
SAP ships workflows that you can use as templates. Using the Business Workflow Explorer, you can get an overview of the existing tasks and workflows. You can edit these as required or use them as templates. This helps you to develop your own workflows in an easier and faster manner.
4. Model workflow based on project scope (AS ABAP).
You define the embedded processes in the Workflow Builder as workflows. The Workflow Builder provides a graphical modeling view, which you use to define the steps of the workflow and to define control structures, such as loops or forks. You also define the data that the workflow is to edit.
Based on the business process model, you have defined the required workflows with the relevant steps.
