Function documentation HotNews  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

This function accesses the SAP HotNews in the SAP Service Marketplace, which is relevant for you, i.e. SAP notes with priority 1 (very high), directly. These SAP notes explain how you can avoid or solve problems which could cause loss of data or an SAP system crash.

Integration

The function is part of the Change Request Management in the SAP Solution Manager.

Prerequisites

·        You have set up Change Request Monitoring in the Solution Manager IMG.

·        You have set-up a connection to the SAP Service Marketplace

·        You have created a solution.

·        You have created logical components for the systems in your solution.

Activities

Note

HotNews refers to software component versions with a specified support package status, and is assigned to components in the (application) component hierarchy.

...

       1.      Create a component group for a logical component in the system landscape maintenance (SMSY): A component group contains the components in the component hierarchy, which are relevant for a logical component, e.g. the components CO and FIN are relevant for the logical component Z_R3_FINANZ.

                            a.      Select a logical component in the overview tree on the left, in the system landscape maintenance (SMSY).

                            b.      Switch to change mode.

                            c.      Create a new component group with the pushbutton Change Component Group in the detail screen on the right-hand side. You can put several components in a component group.

Note

You can create a where-used list in the Change Component Group screen. The where-used list shows you in which logical components and solutions a component group is already used.

                            d.      To assign a component group to the logical component, choose an existing component group from the possible entries help.

                            e.      Save the changes.

       2.      Refresh the list of HotNews for your solution:

                            a.      Choose a solution in the transaction SOLUTION_MANAGER, and go to the Change Management tab HotNews in the Operations area

                            b.      Choose the Refresh symbol for a system or main instance, in the Last Check column.

                            c.      The Solution Manager connects to the SAP Service Marketplace and loads the list of current HotNews for the software component and Support Package status of the system or main instance of the system.

                            d.      Repeat steps b) and c) for all systems or main instances for which you want to refresh the HotNews display.

       3.      Use the HotNews.

In the transaction SOLUTION_MANAGER Operations area Change Management tab HotNews, you can:

¡        Display HotNews details in the Short Text column via a link to the SAP Service Marketplace

¡        Change HotNews processing status:

You can postpone HotNews processing, flag it as not relevant, or write a note, via pushbuttons. The system moves the HotNews to the appropriate subtab.

¡        Generate a change request from HotNews:

                                                  i.       Select the HotNews in the New subtab, and choose the pushbutton Create Change Request .

A change request is created in the background.

                                                ii.       Enhance the change request in a new session, as described under Create Change Request.

You can see from which HotNews the change request was generated, in the Context tab in the change request.
