Process documentation Evaluating Inclusive Rule Strategies  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Purpose

This process describes how the system evaluates inclusive rules strategies of a rule strategy sequence. Substitution lists with location products are the result of the evaluation.

Process

...

       1.      Determine the first inclusive rule strategy

The system determines the first inclusive rule strategy based on the rule strategy number.

       2.      Determine all rules of this inclusive rule strategy

The system determines all rules of the rule strategy and evaluates them as follows:

                            a.      Evaluate the exclusive rules

The system evaluates all exclusive rules of this inclusive rule strategy and creates a local exclusion list. The local exclusion list consists of locations, products, and location products that are not considered as substitutions.

                            b.      Evaluate the inclusive rules

The system evaluates inclusive rules one after the other.

                                                  i.       Evaluate the first inclusive rule

The system evaluates the first inclusive rule that it finds by means of this inclusive rule strategy. The result of the evaluation is a substitution list with location products.

The system removes from this list all locations, products, or location products that are contained in either the local or the global exclusion list.

If you have defined a validity period for the locations, products, or location products that are to be excluded, these are not removed from the substitution list. The system merely adjusts their validity period for the substitution. For more information, see validity period in rules and adjusting validity periods: example.

If the global exclusion list contains alternative locations for excluded locations, the system copies these into the substitution list. For more information about alternative locations from alternative rules, see Creating Rules and Evaluating Exclusive Rule Strategies.

ii.       Evaluate the next inclusive rule

If the requirement cannot be covered based on the substitution list of the first inclusive rule, the system evaluates the next inclusive rule. The process is repeated as described above until the requirement has been covered, or until all inclusive rules of this inclusive rule strategy have been evaluated.

The following graphic shows the evaluation procedure of an inclusive rule strategy.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

       3.      Evaluate the next inclusive rule strategy

If the requirement cannot be covered based on the substitution lists from the first inclusive rule strategy, the system evaluates the next inclusive rule strategy. The process is repeated as described above until the requirement has been covered, or until all inclusive rule strategies of the rule strategy sequence have been evaluated.
