Evaluating Exclusive Rule Strategies 

Purpose

This process describes how the system evaluates the exclusive rule strategies of a rule strategy sequence. The result of the evaluation is the global exclusion list. This global exclusion list is valid within the rule strategy sequence in which these exclusive rule strategies are defined.

Process

       1.      Determine all rules of an inclusive rule strategy

The system evaluates exclusive rule strategies one after the other. The sequence in which the rules are evaluated is not important. The system determines all rules of the exclusive rule strategy that it is currently evaluating, and sorts the rules according to the rule type.

       2.      Evaluate all exclusive rules

The system evaluates all exclusive rules. The system creates the local exclusion list from the locations, products, or location products that are defined in the exclusive rules. The local exclusion list is only valid within this exclusive rule strategy.

       3.      Evaluate all inclusive rules

The system evaluates all inclusive rules.

The system creates the global exclusion list from the locations, products and location products that are defined in the inclusive rules. The global exclusion list is valid within the rule strategy sequence to which the exclusive rule strategy is assigned.

The system removes from the global exclusion list those locations, products, and location products that are contained in the local exclusion list. 

Those locations, products, or location products, for which you have defined the validity period for the substitution, are not removed; instead their validity period for the substitution is adjusted.

       4.      Evaluate all alternative rules

The system evaluates all alternative rules and determines the locations for which alternative locations exist.

       5.      Adopt alternative locations into the global exclusion list

The system determines those locations from the global exclusion list for which alternative locations are defined. The system adds the alternative locations to the global exclusion list next to the original locations.

       6.      Evaluate additional exclusive rule strategies

If you have defined additional exclusive rule strategies for the rule strategy sequence, the system evaluates the next exclusive rule strategy. The procedure is the same. Note that the system does not create a new global exclusion list from the locations, products, and location products that are defined in the inclusive rules of this exclusive rule strategy. The system adds these locations, products, and location products to the existing global exclusion list.

Results

The system creates a global exclusion list of this rule strategy sequence from the locations, products, or location products that are defined in the rules of exclusive rule strategies. The locations, products, and location products of the global exclusion list are removed from the substitution lists of inclusive rule strategies of the same rule strategy sequence.
