Preparing the Development Environment for
Layered Development
In this step you prepare the development environment for layered development.
● Enough Application Servers Java are available to you for integration tests, for quality assurance, and for production use of two applications.
● You have write authorization in the System Landscape Directory (SLD).

This tutorial assumes that you have not yet performed any configuration actions in the SLD or Change Management Service (CMS).
If you have already configured the NWDI, you can use the Tst domain and the Application software component which already exist. You do not need to create the users and roles.
To be able to work with the SAP NetWeaver Development Infrastructure (NWDI), you must first perform these steps:
...
1. Create the required Software Components (SCs) in the SLD.
2. Create domain and first track in the CMS.
3. Create a second tack in the CMS.
4. Connect the different tracks in the CMS.
5. Check in and import required SCs.
You have prepared the NWDI for layered development.
