Creating a Second Track
In this step you create the second development track. In this track, you develop a software component (SC) that is based on the functions of the Technology SC that you developed previously.
You are logged on to the Change Management Service (CMS) as administrator.
1. On the CMS Web interface, switch to Landscape Configurator.

If a track is already selected, choose New to clear the fields for the new data entry.
2. Create a track with the following data:
Track Data |
Value |
Repository Type |
DTR |
Track ID |
APPL |
Track Name |
APPL |
Track Description |
Track for Software Component Application |
DTR URL |
http://<host name>:<port number>/dtr Replace <host name> and <port number> with the host name and port of the AS Java on which the Design Time Repository (DTR) is installed. |
CBS URL |
http://<host name>:<port number> Replace <host name> and <port number> with the host name and port of the AS Java on which the Component Build Service (CBS) is installed. |
Development Configuration |
APPL This value is a copy of the track name and cannot be changed here. |
Development Configuration Description |
Track for Software Component Application This value is a copy of the track description and cannot be changed here. |
Development Configuration Path |
APPL/1.0 |
3. In the Software Components for Development table, choose the Add SC... function. The Add Software Component dialog box appears.
4. In the table, select the Application SC.
The example.org vendor and the release 1.0 appear in the appropriate fields. Leave the package type set to Source and Archive.
5. Choose Add.
The Application SC is inserted in the table. The CMS automatically inserts the following entries into table Required Software Components:
○ Technology
○ SAP_BUILDT
○ SAP_JTECHS
○ SAP-JEE
6. Choose Close.
7. Switch to the Runtime Systems tab page.
8. Under Selected Runtime Systems, select the following runtime systems:
○ Development
○ Test
○ Production
9. Enter the following data for the Software Deployment Manager (SDM):
○ SDM Host Name
Name of the host on which you installed your AS Java for the central integration tests.
○ SDM Port Number
Number of the port through which the SDM is addressed (for example, 5<SID>18).
○ SDM Password
The SDM password specified during the installation of the AS Java.

The default port of the SDM is 18. If you changed the port settings during the installation, you must change the port number accordingly.
Leave the option Disable automatic deployment unselected.
(Optional) Expand the tray View/Edit Deployment Substitution Parameters. The deployment substitution parameters for the selected runtime system are displayed.
10. Add the runtime systems Test and Production in the same way and choose Save.
You have created a track in which the new SC is based on functions from a second SC.
