Master Data for Phase Creation You can use the following master data objects to create work orders:
Production process model (PPM) or product data structure (PDS) for
Supply Network Planning
(SNP)
These master data objects from SAP Advanced Planning and Optimization (SAP APO) are only available in an SCM server installation.
The phase structure is an SNC-specific master data object that represents the different phases for the production of a product. In the phase structure, you can assign input and output components directly to every phase. The input components of a phase are consumed at the beginning of a phase, the output components are provided at the end of a phase. You can make settings in the phases of the phase structure as to whether and how a phase uses the components from the subcontract order. The system copies the components to the phase when creating a work order.
You can only use this master data if SAP APO is installed in the system (SCM server installation). During work order creation, the system uses the source of supply determination from SAP APO to determine a PDS or a PPM. The system creates a work order phase for every PDS or PPM activity. The system assigns the input and output components of the activity to the phase (input components to the phase beginning, output components to the phase end). The phase sequence corresponds to the sequence of activities in the PDS or PPM. The phase IDs are identical to the activity IDs.
You can also use the following combinations to create work orders:
Phases from the phase structure
Components from the PPM or PDS
Work orders based on a phase structure can use external components as follows:
Components from a subcontract order (subcontracting components, co-products, and product)
For a phase, the system uses components from the subcontract order in addition to the components that you have assigned directly in the phase structure of the phase. You can also use only subcontracting components for a phase. For more information, see Use of Components from the Subcontract Order and Component Assignment Rule .
Components from a PPM or PDS
In this case, the system only uses the external components from the PPM or PDS. The system does not use any components that you have assigned directly in the phase structure. To assign the external components to the phases of a phase structure, you use a component assignment rule .
SAP SNC only supports phases that have a quantity-independent (fixed) net phase duration. In the phase structure, therefore, you can only define phases with a fixed net duration. In the case of a PPM or PDS, SAP SNC likewise only considers the fixed duration of the activities.
You define which master data the system uses for the work order, in
work order configuration
under
Master Data Assignment
