Procedure documentationMonitoring a System

 

This procedure displays the status of technical systems and also the instances, hosts, and IT infrastructure devices that contribute to it.

The status of a technical system also depends on the system hierarchy. For example, if the status of a host is Critical, the overall status of technical system can be red.

You can view the status of the system with the System Monitoring widget, or in System Monitoring in the System & Application Monitoring work center.

Procedure

  1. Open the application System Monitoring in the launch pad.

  2. Do one of the followings:

    • Open System & Application Monitoring work center in the launch pad and select one or more rows in the POWL, and choose System Monitoring.

    • Open the System Monitoring application in the launch pad and in the Scope Selection option, enter the details of the required systems.

  3. For detailed analysis, do the following:

    Analyze the system hierarchy

    On the System List tab page, click on the system. In the Hierarchy View section you can analyze the details.

    Analyze the status of a category

    Click the category. Summarization events and their ratings are displayed.

    View the details of metrics which contribute to the status of the summarization event

    Do one of the following:

    • In the graphical view, click the summarization event.

    • In the Hierarchy View, expand the summarization event. By choosing Switch to Tabular View , you can view the details in a tabular format.

    View the alerts raised for the system

    To view the alerts, do the following:

    1. Click on relevant tile in the Status Overview section, or choose the System tab page.

      The system list appears.

    2. Click the system link on the relevant system.

      A screen with the system’s details appears.

    Do one of the following:

    • At the top right corner of the screen, the numeric value is the number of alerts. Click the number and you go to the Alert Inbox.

    • Click the Link to Alert Inbox icon. The Alert Inbox opens in a new window.

    View the work mode scheduled for the system and the business partner information

    1. Click on relevant tile in the Status Overview section, or choose the System tab page.

      The system list appears.

    2. Click the system link on the relevant system.

      A screen with the system’s details appears.

      • You can view the information if a work mode is assigned to the managed system.

      • You can view the business partner's information

    View the host details

    Do the following:

    1. On the relevant tile, click to view host details.

      The Sytem List screen appears.

    2. Click on the System name on the tile.

      A screen with the host’s details appears.

      • Click the calendar icon to view the IT calendar of the system.

      • You can view the templates assigned to the system.

      • Click the Link to Landscape Browser to view the system details in the landscape browser application.
