Procedure documentationCreating Dynamic TBOMs

Record, for example, a transaction while it is running.

Prerequisites

You have ensured that the prerequisites for recording special cases of TBOMs are satisfied. For more information, see Satisfying the Prerequisites for Special Cases of TBOM Recording.

Procedure

  1. Start the Test Suite - Test Preparation view.

  2. Select a solution and branch and open it.

  3. Drill down to the executable you want to process.

In the Browser view, the executable is displayed on the Elements of <Node> tab page.

  4. In the context menu, do one of the following:

    • If business expertise is required to perform the test case, delegate the TBOM recording to a business expert or tester. Choose Create TBOM Work Items. For more information, see Delegating TBOM Recording to Business Experts.

    • To create the TBOM directly, on the Elements of <Executable Name> tab page, in the context menu of an empty row, choose Start of the navigation path New Next navigation step TBOMs Next navigation step TBOM (Create) End of the navigation path.

  5. Enter a TBOM description.

By default, the description comprises the following information:

    [branch ID]-[node text]-[component]-[type]-[executable entity name]

    You can change the name.

  6. To confirm your entries, choose OK.

  7. Choose Start Recording.

The executable entity is opened in a new session or browser window.

If you record a Web application, use the correct users. For more information, see Recording TBOMs for Web Applications.

  8. Perform the required activities in the managed system.

  9. When you have completed the activities, exit the function or close the browser, to ensure that all objects are captured.

  10. Choose Stop Recording.

SAP Solution Manager collects all objects used by the system or systems and creates a TBOM. After you create the TBOM, a confirmation message appears.

  11. If the TBOM recording fails, check the managed system. For more information, see Troubleshooting: Checking the Managed System.
