Procedure documentationMonitoring a Database

 

This procedure displays the status of a database, and the host that contributes to it. The status of a database also depends on the hierarchy. For example, if the status of a host is red, the overall database status can be red.

Procedure

  1. Open System & Application Monitoring work center in the launch pad..

  2. Click the System Monitoring link.

  3. Select one or more rows in the POWL, and choose Database Monitoring.

    The system launches Database Monitoring.

  4. For detailed analysis, do the following:

    Analyze the system hierarchy

    On the Database List tab page, click on the database. In the Hierarchy View section, you can analyze the details.

    Analyze the status of a category

    Click the category. The ratings for summarization events are displayed.

    View the details of metrics which contribute to the status of the summarization event

    Do one of the following:

    • In the graphical view, click the summarization event.

    • In the Hierarchy View expand the summarization event. By choosing the Switch to tabular view, you can view the details in a tabular format.

    View the alerts raised for the database

    To view the alerts, do the following:

    1. Click on relevant tile in the Status Overview section, or choose the Database tab page.

      The database list appears.

    2. Click the database link on the relevant database.

      A screen with the database’s details appears. Do one of the following:

      • At the top right corner of the screen, the numeric value shows the number of alerts. Click the number and you go to the Alert Inbox.

      • Click the Link to Alert Inbox icon.

        The Alert Inbox opens in a new window.

    View the work mode scheduled for the database and the business partner information

    1. Click the relevant tile in the Status Overview section, or choose the Database tab page.

      The database list appears.

    2. Click the database link on the relevant database.

      A screen with the database’s details appears.

      • If a work mode is in progress for the database, you can view the information.

      • You can view the business partner's information.

    View the database details

    Do the following:

    1. On the relevant tile, click to view database details.

      The Database List screen appears.

    2. Click on the Database name on the tile.

      A screen with the host’s details appears. You can view the following:

      • Click the Link to Landscape Browser to view the database details in the landscape browser application.

      • Click the calendar icon to view the IT calendar of the database.

      • You can view the templates assigned to the database.
