Currency Translation in Business Explorer
You previously created one or more currency translation types.
More information: Creating Currency Translation Types
When you want to translate a currency from key figures in the query, you can specify the translation type in two places:
...
1. In the query definition for individual key figures or structure elements
2. In the executed query, using the context menu for all elements of key figure type Amount
A more complex currency translation is available in the query definition. You can specify how the individual elements (key figures of type Amount) of the query are to be translated. One currency translation type can be specified for each element. Note that this can lead to overlays of two different translation types in one cell. The translation type that you most recently set is always used. See also the example Multiple Currency Translation Types in One Query.
Depending on the definition of the target currency determination in the currency translation type, either a fixed target currency or a variable for the determination of the target currency can also be specified.
See Currency Translation in Properties of the Selection/Formula.
If a variable is used, the system requests the variable when you execute the query. Information about the procedure: Setting Up Variable Currency Translation
The values of a query can, on the one hand, exist in different currencies, depending on the respective elements and the selected translation. On the other hand, various modalities for translation are to be taken into consideration (for example, a translation of plan data is carried out using year-dependent exchange rates and a translation of actual data is performed using month-dependent exchange rates).
In BEx Analyzer, you can choose Query Properties in the context menu for the key figure to convert the displayed currency in various ways.
● Convert to Currency as Defined in Query: Complex currency translations can be configured using BEx Query Designer. If this type of translation is configured in your query, you can use this function in your query results.
● Convert to Currency: Select this option to translate results into a specific currency. In the dropdown box, select the currency into which the results are to be translated.
○ Use Currency Translation: After selecting the target currency for the results, select the type of translation to use for the conversion from this dropdown box.
○ First Apply Currency Translation from Query Definition: Select this checkbox to convert into the currency defined in the query, and then to convert to the currency defined in these settings.
● Display Original Currency: Select this option to disable currency conversions.

In BEx Web applications, a simple currency translation is also available in the context menu. However, in the input help for the target currency, only the currencies for which exchange rates are maintained in the system are displayed, whereas all currencies are displayed in the BEx Analyzer.

Restrictions:
The following currency translation types are not available at query runtime.
● Inactive translation types
● Translation types for which a variable is stored (variable time reference, source currency from variable, target currency from variable, and so on)
● Translation types in which an InfoObject is used for determining the source currency or target currency
● Generally only when selection elements are used (formulas are applied to values that have already been translated)
● When formula variables with the dimensions Amount and Price are used
● When formula variables with replacement paths are used
● With key figure attributes if the key figure is of type Amount
