Configuring Target Systems for Further ApplicationsLocate this document in the navigation structure

Use
Note This function is available only if the CTS plug-in is installed in your SAP system.

If you want to connect a further application with the Change and Transport System, then you must configure the target systems for transporting the objects of the application.

Prerequisites
  • The CTS plug-in is installed in your SAP system. For HTTP-based deployment, the required CTS plug-in version is 2.0 SP14 or higher.
  • You have connected the source systems of the application with the Change and Transport System.

For more information, see Configuring Source Systems for Further Applications.

  • You are in the Domain Controller of your transport domain.
  • You have received information from the vendor of the application that is to be connected about the deployment method and deploy URI, as well as details about further application-specific configurations, if required. In general, you find this information in the documentation of guide or CTS integration of each application.

For more information, see Connecting Further Applications with the Change and Transport System.

Procedure

Depending on whether the target systems of the application are already configured in your transport landscape or not, select one of the following procedures:

Configure Existing Target System for Application to Be Connected

To configure already existing target systems, proceed as follows:

  1. In Transport Management System (transaction code STMS), call the system overview.
  2. From the system overview for your domain, select the target system with a double click.
  3. Choose Start of the navigation path GoTo Next navigation step Application Types Next navigation step Deployment Method End of the navigation path.

You are on a new screen now.

  4. Switch to change mode.
  5. To create a new entry, choose New Entries.

You are on a new screen now.

  6. The transport domain and the system are already defined.

Select the application type using the input help.

  7. Specify values for the following fields:
    • Deploy Method

Select the required deploy method from the selection list. The following values are available:

      • Software Deployment Manager or Deploy Controller
      • EJB-Based Deployment (application-specific)
Note For this option you need the detailed information of the vendor of the application to be connected about installing the application-specific deploy EJB on the host of the deploy Web service so that the deployment of the application data can be executed successfully.
      • Script-Based Deployment
Note For this option you need the detailed information of the vendor of the application to be connected about installing the deploy script on the host of the deploy Web service so that the deployment of the application data can be executed successfully.
      • HTTP-based Deployment (application-specific)
Note For this option you need the detailed information of the vendor of the application to be connected about how the HTTP server used for deployment by CTS can be reached, and activated, if required, so that the deployment of the application data can be executed successfully. You must create the corresponding HTTP destination on the communication system of the target system using transaction SM59.
    • HTTP destination (only required for HTTP-based deployment)

Contains the name of the HTTP destination (SM59) that is used for deployment.

    • Deploy URI (optional for HTTP-based deployment)

Contains the URI that is used for deployment.

    • User (optional for HTTP-based deployment)

This is a technical deploy user. Enter a name.

    • Password (optional for HTTP-based deployment)

Enter a password for the deploy user.

  8. Save your entries and confirm that you want to distribute the configuration.
Configure New Target System
  1. To create a new target system, proceed as described under Defining and Configuring Non-ABAP Systems. Create the non-ABAP system as a target system and in the Target System Settings select the deployment method Other.
  2. To configure the target system for the transport of objects of the application to be connected, proceed as described above as of step 5 under Configure Existing Target System for the Application to Be Connected.
