In the Update Rules view, you can use the results of an analysis to update an existing Solution Manager object or create a new one.

Prerequisites

  1. You have called one of the following views in the Solution Documentation Assistant:

    • Overview

    • Analysis Projects

    • Analyses

  2. You have performed one of the following actions:

    • You have selected an analysis project in the Analysis Projects view, to display the table of its analyses, and you have chosen the name of an analysis with the status Finished, to open the results overview.

    • You have chosen the name of an analysis in the Analyses view, to open the results overview.

  3. You have chosen either Update Solution Manager Project or Create Solution Manager Project.

Features

If you have created an analysis project based on a Solution Manager project, you can update the underlying Solution Manager project with the results of the analysis. You specify the effect of the different ratings when the Solution Manager project is updated. For each type of rating, for example, Active or Inactive, you can choose one of the following rules in the Update Action column:

  • Set in Scope

    Example Example

    • You have selected this update action for the analysis status Active. The update sets the flag for all nodes in the Solution Manager project that have the rating Active in the analysis. This is the default update rule.

    • You have selected this update action for the analysis status Inactive. The update sets the flag for all nodes in the Solution Manager project that have the rating Inactive in the analysis.

    End of the example.
  • Set out of Scope

    Example Example

    • You have selected this update action for the analysis status Inactive. The update removes the flag for all nodes in the Solution Manager project that have the rating Inactive in the analysis.

    • You have selected this update action for the analysis status Active. The update removes the flag for all nodes in the Solution Manager project that have the rating Active in the analysis.

    End of the example.
  • Do Not Change

    Example Example

You have selected this update action for the analysis status Active. The update leaves the flag unchanged for all nodes in the Solution Manager project that have the rating Active in the analysis.

    End of the example.

Activities

  • To update an existing Solution Manager project, choose an entry from the rating type rules input help, in the Update Action column.

The rating types are split into two areas:

    • Ratings of Structure Objects, the analysis structure nodes, for example, Active.

    • Check step ratings, for example True or False. These ratings affect the update in the Solution Manager project of objects on the Transactions tab.

  • To create a new Solution Manager project, enter the Solution Manager project administration data, analogously to the SAP Solution Manager Project Administration procedure, and specify the import rule:

    • Project: Enter a unique name for the Solution Manager project.

    • Type: Specify the type of the Solution Manager project.

    • Title: Enter a description for the Solution Manager project.

    • Language: Specify the language for the entire Solution Manager project.

      Note Note

You can no longer change the language of the Solution Manager project once you have saved.

      End of the note.
    • Enhancement for Documents

      • Enhancement: Specify the context in which documents are stored in the SAP Knowledge Warehouse.

      • Release: Enter the release level. It determines which documents can be displayed and edited.

    • Contents Import Options

      • Copy Transactions: Specify whether the name and description of the transactions are to be copied.

      • Copy Reports: Specify whether the name and description of the reports are to be copied.

      • Copy Java Web Dynpro Applications: Specify whether the name and description of Java Web Dynpro applications are to be copied.

      • Import BPR Object Assignments: Specify whether the IDs of the BPR (Business Process Repository) objects are to be copied. This makes it possible to subsequently load additional SAP content for the individual objects (for example, documentation).

  • To update or create the Solution Manager project with the implemented rules, choose OK.

When you Create a Solution Manager project, the structure is copied, with all objects (structure objects, master data and organizational units.

When you update a Solution Manager project, transactions, reports and Java Web Dynpro applications are only then copied if:

    • The structure node has been rated als active by an identifying check rule.

      Note Note

You can change the rating of structure nodes manually, to also copy structure nodes which were rated as inactive by an analysis. For further information, see Change Structure Object Rating Manually.

      End of the note.
    • The transaction, report or Java Web Dynpro application has been rated as active by an identifying check rule.

    • The check step has the value True.

Objects that are only assigned to check steps in informative check items are not copied at update.

  • To check, before updating an existing Solution Manager project, what effect this would have on the Solution Manager project, choose the Update Simulation link.

The Solution Manager Project Update Simulation dialog box appears. You see for which structure nodes and objects on the Transactions tab page the status (In Scope, Not in Scope) would change during the update.

  • To check the effects on an existing Solution Manager project after it has been updated, choose   Solution Manager Project   Display Update Result  .

The Solution Manager Project Update Result dialog box appears. You see the structure nodes for which you have changed the status (In Scope, Not in Scope).

  • To get a statistical analysis of the update process, show the graphical overview in the Solution Manager Project Update Results dialog box.

For structure nodes, you see how many business scenarios, business processes, or business process steps are affected by your changes.
