Collection of comparison instances which is assigned to a specific group type. A comparison instance can be contained in several comparison groups.

A comparison group type defines the behavior of a comparison group.

Example Example

Group type A defines that comparison instances are grouped because they affect the same business object (for example, all instances that check business partners)

Group type B defines that comparison instances are grouped because they should allow a correlated result, for example, transfer master data from one source system to multiple target systems.

End of the example.

Comparison groups can be used for various purposes:

  • Group result view to display the correlated results for multiple systems within a comparison group

  • Filter for the administration view

  • Quick assessment of the data distribution from one source system to multiple target systems

  • Assessment of data distribution across a chain of systems

Structure

The following comparison group types are delivered by SAP:

  • Display

Combines comparison instances to display them in one comprehensive administration view, and to start and stop them together.

  • Sequence

Combines comparison instances that belong to a distribution of master data across a chain of systems. Groups of this type can be used as filter criteria in the administration view, they can be started and stopped, and they are correlated.

  • Distribution

Combines comparison instances that belong to a distribution of master data from a single source system to multiple target systems. Groups of this type can be used as filter criteria in the administration view, they can be started and stopped, they have a validation function, and they are correlated.
