In the Business Process Operations dashboard, end users can graphically display and monitor analytical key figures, for example throughput or backlogs, in various panels. This gives the end user an overview of the status of business processes, and he can identify current operational problems.

There are various types of charts. Users can, for example, display a trend over the previous two weeks, or a current measured value.

The following end users use dashboards:

  • The business process expert maintains an overview of the business processes for which he is responsible (e.g. Order Processing or Procurement).

  • The key user of a business process monitors critical key figures of its subprocesses. The warehouse manager of a subsidiary monitors, for example, the number of backlog deliveries of the warehouse.

  • The application support expert monitors technical and business key figures. To identify technical irregularities, he compares, for example, the number of incoming orders and the number of backlog deliveries in all locations.

The dashboard administrator and the business process expert together identify the end user's information requirements, set up dashboards, and assign them to groups of end users according to their areas of responsibility.

Activities

The various roles do the following:

  1. The business process expert specifies the information requirements of various groups of end users.

  2. The dashboard administrator acts as follows:

    • Identify, with the business process expert, the analytic key figures to be displayed in the dashboards. Assign monitor objects and their analytic key figures to logical components. Monitoring objects collect data in the production system and put it in the SAP NetWeaver Business Warehouse.

For more information, see Setting Up Monitoring Objects.

    • Create end user groups. See Create End User Group for further information.

    • Set up dashboards and assign them to an end user group. For more information, see Set Up Dashboard.

    • To ensure that the data is passed and displayed, perform a business process analysis, see Business Process Analytics.

    • Make the dashboards known to the end users.

  3. The end users (business process expert, key user of a business process, application support expert), display the dashboards that are assigned to their user groups. For more information, see Display a Dashboard, as End User.
