You have created job documentation and want to manage the job configuration using an external scheduler, for example, SAP Central Process Scheduling by Redwood (SAP CPS by Redwood).
You have made the system settings for the Scheduling a Job scenario in Customizing for SAP Solution Manager under
.You have made the necessary system settings in Customizing for SAP Solution Manager under
.The external scheduler is connected to SAP Solution Manager and the target systems and is configured. For more information, see http://service.sap.com/process-scheduling.
You have selected the SAP Solution Manager Scheduling Enabler (SMSE) interface in the job documentation under General.
You have entered a logical component of the target system in the job documentation under System Landscape.
Scheduling External Jobs
To schedule an external job:
Select a logical component in the job documentation, under System Landscape, select the target system, and choose Scheduling.
Complete the mandatory fields and specify the start conditions.
Note
Required entry fields are indicated by *.
Choose Schedule/Change Externally.
The system transfers the job configuration to the external scheduler and schedules the job.
When the job has been scheduled, you get a status message with the job number.
The system imports the remaining data automatically from the external scheduler.
Save the imported data.
Note
Depending on your authorizations, you can only schedule a job in status Paused. The administrator responsible for the external scheduler must release this job manually.
Caution
You cannot change a job that has already been scheduled. If you change a job that has already been scheduled and then select Schedule Externally again, the system creates a new job and does not change the existing job.
Importing External Job Configurations
To import an external job configuration:
Select a logical component in the job documentation, under System Landscape, select the target system, and choose Scheduling.
Choose Import.
You go to a dialog box with the import options.
Specify the selection criteria, for example, job name, user name, or job status.
Choose Find.
The system lists the jobs for the search criteria.
To import the job configuration, select a job and confirm with OK.
The system imports the job configuration.
Note
The system cannot import start conditions.
Canceling a Scheduled Job
To cancel a scheduled job:
Select a logical component in the job documentation, under System Landscape, select the target system, and choose Scheduling.
Choose Cancel Job.
The system cancels the job and all its subsequent jobs.
Note
The job you want to cancel must not have started.
Changing a Scheduled Job
To cancel a scheduled job, proceed as follows:
Select a logical component in the job documentation, under System Landscape, select the target system, and choose Scheduling.
Change the start options or parameters.
Choose Schedule/Change Externally again to change an already scheduled job.
Rescheduling a Scheduled Job
To reschedule a scheduled job, proceed as follows:
Select a logical component in the job documentation, under System Landscape, select the target system, and choose Scheduling.
Change only the start options.
Choose Reschedule.
A new job is scheduled and the old one cancelled. If the old job was periodic, all associated follow-on jobs are also canceled.
Adding Notes or Business Cards to a Scheduled Job
To add notes as free text, or business cards of business partners, to a scheduled job, or to display those already added:
Select a logical component in the job documentation, under System Landscape, select the target system, and choose Scheduling.
Choose External Notes.
A dialog box appears.
To add notes or business cards:
Note (free text):
Write your note. You can enter up to 1000 characters for each entry.
Choose Add.
You can add any number of entries.
Business cards: You can add the business cards of business partners that are entered in the job documentation under Partners with the role Background Processing.
Choose a business partner.
Choose Add.
After adding a note or business card, the system puts this in an outbound queue.
Choose OK to export all notes.
Caution
You cannot edit or delete exported notes.
Display Job Output Information
To display job output information:
Select a logical component in the job documentation, under System Landscape, select the target system, and choose Scheduling.
To display the job output information for a job that has already been scheduled, choose External Log.
A dialog box appears.
Choose a log.
The system displays the log.
Note
Job output information depends on the job status.
External Scheduler Management
There are two ways to start the administration of an external scheduler:
In the work center: Choose
.Through the job documentation: Select a logical component in the job documentation, under System Landscape, select the target system, and choose Scheduling.
Choose Scheduler Management.
Select a job in the target system
To see scheduled jobs, depending on the status in the target system:
Select a logical component in the job documentation, under System Landscape, select the target system, and choose Scheduling.
Choose Job Selection.
You go to the transaction SM37 in the target system. You can, for example, release a job scheduled with the job documentation.
Analyze runtime errors in the target system
To analyze runtime errors in the system:
Select a logical component in the job documentation, under System Landscape, select the target system, and choose Scheduling.
To analyze runtime errors, choose Runtime Errors.
You go to the transaction ST22 in the target system.
Analyzing Jobs in the Target System
To analyze a job in the target system:

To be able to run the analysis in the target system, you have implemented the current version of the ST-PI plug-in in the SAP Solution Manager system and the connected managed systems. You have set up a trusted RFC connection to the target system.
Select a logical component in the job documentation, under System Landscape, select the target system, and choose Scheduling.
To analyze a job in the target system, select Job Analysis.
You go to the transaction ST13 in the target system.
Define follow-on jobs
As a prerequisite, you need a previously scheduled, periodic job in the external planner.
Select a logical component in the job documentation, under System Landscape, select the target system, and choose Scheduling.
Choose the Job History tab.
Enter the selection criteria and then choose Search.
The results list is displayed. The list also contains previously unscheduled jobs. A maximum of 200 result entries are displayed.
You can also schedule a job directly in a system connected to the external scheduler, without having to create job documentation in advance. For further information, see Scheduling Jobs Directly. You choose SAP CPS by Redwood as the external scheduler, for example.
