You can create your own dashboards.

Prerequisites

See Prerequisites: Displaying Data from Queries in Xcelsius Dashboards and SAP Note 1449044 (Limitations and Best Practices).

Activities

Editing a dashboard
  1. Opening a dashboard

In Xcelsius, choose   SAP   Open  .

  2. Logging on to the BW system

The SAP Logon dialog box appears and you have to select the corresponding SAP BW system. Log on in the usual manner.

  3. Selecting a dashboard

A dialog box appears. Choose Search and select Search in Technical Name.

Enter 0XC*, for example, to search for an existing report.

Double-click the required dashboard to display it.

  4. Editing and saving a dashboard

Make the required changes and save the dashboard in the SAP BW system. Dashboards are stored in the BW system as BI content and can be saved in an existing BW role (PFCG role) or in one of your own roles.

    You have the following options:

    • Choose   SAP   Publish As  .

The system creates a new dashboard in an active version in the BW system.

    • Choose   SAP   Publish  .

The system overwrites the active version in the BW system.

      Note Note

Choose   SAP   Translation Settings   to select texts for the translation.

If you require a different data source, choose   SAP   Disconnect  .

      End of the note.
  5. Choose   SAP   Start   to display the dashboard in the Portal.

Creating a new dashboard
  1. Creating a dashboard

In Xcelsius, choose   File   New  .

  2. Logging on to the SAP BW system

Choose   Data   Connections  . The Data Manager dialog box is displayed.

    1. On the Definition tab page, choose Add and select SAP NetWeaver BI Connection.

    2. On the Definition tab page, choose Browse and log on to the SAP BW system as usual.

The Select Query for your Xcelsius File dialog box appears.

  3. Selecting a query

In the Select Query for your Xcelsius File dialog box, search for the suitable query and double-click the query to transfer it.

    Note Note

On the Utilization tab page, select Regenerate When Loading as well so that the query data is automatically loaded when the dashboard is loaded.

    End of the note.
  4. Assigning a cell area

Connect the query to the Excel table, that is, assign the query elements to a cell area. Select the query elements that you want to transfer (such as the output values), choose Insert In (Insert In), and select the desired cell area.

    Close the dialog box.

  5. Selecting visualization

In the component browser, select the required visualization, for example, a specific diagram type, chart, or list. Make the necessary changes and assign a title, for example.

  6. Saving a dashboard

To save the dashboard in the SAP BW system, choose   SAP   Publish  . You can also assign the dashboard to a BW role (optional).

  7. Starting a dashboard

Choose   SAP   Start   to display the dashboard in the Portal.

Listing dashboards

You can use the report RSCXP_XCELSIUS_SHOW to display dashboards and associated roles in the BW system.

Deleting a dashboard

In Xcelsius, choose   SAP   Open  . In the subsequent dialog box (Open a Xcelsius File from BW), click a dashboard and choose Delete in the context menu.

Note Note

In the context menu, click Properties to display, for example, who created the dashboard.

End of the note.
