 Component BOM

Definition

A list of material planning objects (MPOs) (or materials described by user-defined texts) that are assigned to a different MPO as components.

Use

Components represent equipment that is a fixed part of the MPO to which it belongs but that is managed individually in the form of MPOs for planning reasons. The pieces of equipment are grouped to form a component BOM and assigned to an MPO. This enables you to map alternative component BOMs.

Structure

Technically, component BOMs are implemented as iPPE alternatives of type S_DFCMP. They are assigned to MPOs by means of iPPE relationships of type S_DFBOM.

Status

Component BOMs have their own status but no validity period.

Component BOMs can have the following statuses: Planned , Requested , Approved , Active , Obsolete , and Rejected . Only one component BOM of an MPO can have the status Approved at any one time. See also Status Networks .

Properties

You can assign properties for component BOMs using the following tab pages and fields/field groups in the application Authorized Materials and Material Packages :

  • Alternative tab page

    • No./Subnumber

The item number/item subnumber of the assigned MPO (two-level hierarchy).

    • Free Text

If you want to assign a material described by a user-defined text instead of an MPO, select this field.

Technically, free-text items of a component BOM are implemented as iPPE alternatives of type S_DFTXT.

    • MPO

      The assigned MPO.

    • Description

A description of the assigned MPO or a user-defined text.

    • Quantity

The quantity/number of the assigned MPO or of the material described by a user-defined text.

  • Status tab page

    • Status

The status of the component BOM.

Storage

The properties of component BOMs are stored in the following tables:
