Temporary Interruption of CUA Connection
The decentralized systems in your distributed system landscape are connected to the Central User Administration
(CUA) of the central system level, which supplies them with the necessary users and authorizations (see User and Role Administration).
Usually, Central User Administration
requires that the decentralized systems are connected to the CUA system. In distributed system architectures, such as those that are commonly used by military forces, police, and aid organizations, a stable connection cannot always be guaranteed. For this reason, the Defense Forces & Public Security
component provides offline capability, in other words, system operation is ensured if communication between the central and the decentralized systems is temporarily interrupted.
In offline scenarios, sometimes user master records have to be changed or a user assigned to a new role. However, these changes cannot be carried out as normal in the central CUA system, since they cannot be distributed at the correct time due to the interruption to the communication link. To make the necessary changes in the decentralized system, you can temporarily disconnect the decentralized system from the CUA group using the Change the CUA Connection
application.
Note
This procedure is intended only for urgent, exceptional cases.
Once the CUA connection has been reestablished, you can reconcile the changes made in the decentralized system with the user master data in the central CUA system. For more information, see User Comparison After Temporary Interruption.
You are using SAP NetWeaver 2004s SP 10
or higher.
Central User Administration is set up in all systems in the system group. The user master records for these systems have been fully reconciled.
In the Implementation Guide (IMG) for the decentralized systems under , you have configured the following settings:
By setting switch CUA_TEMP_OFF_ENABLED
to YES
, you activate the functions for temporarily disconnecting the CUA.
For switch CUA_TEMP_OFF_ADMIN
, enter a recipient (responsible processor in the central CUA system) for the workflow work item sent during temporary disconnection (value <object type><object name>).
By setting switch CUA_TEMP_OFF_IDOCS
to YES
, you specify that IDocs containing user data from the central CUA system that are addressed to a temporarily disconnected, decentralized system and that have not been updated there, are assigned the status Obsolete
in both systems.
You are familiar with SAP Note 922772
.
With the Business Add-In SUSR_CUA_STATUS_SWITCH
(default implementation /ISDFPS/CUA_STATUS_SWITCH
), you can specify the system behavior during disconnection and reconnection.
The Change the CUA Connection
function in the Maintain System Landscape
application (transaction SCUA
) allows you to connect and disconnect the link between a decentralized system and the CUA group. You can carry out this step only in the respective decentralized system. The following fields and options are available:
CUA
Current status of the connection to the central CUA system
RFC
Current status of the RFC connection to the CUA system
Model View
ALE distribution model
Central CUA System
Logical name of the central CUA system
Current System
Logical name of the decentralized system
Change Status of CUA
Choose this option to connect or disconnect the decentralized system to the CUA group.
You can deactivate the CUA connection of a decentralized system regardless of the connection status to the central CUA system. If there is an RFC connection, the system sends a workflow work item to the processor responsible for the CUA system when the connection is disabled. This is for information purposes only. Otherwise, no work item is sent.
You can activate the CUA connection of a decentralized system only if the RFC connection is established. The system sends a workflow work item to the processor responsible for the CUA system when the connection is disabled. This is for information purposes only. The processor can then compare the users.
In both cases, the system uses workflow UT301GENERIC.
You are in the decentralized system and the CUA connection is activated.
Call the Maintain System Landscape
application (transaction SCUA
).
Choose Temporary Deactivation
.
The Change the CUA Connection
application appears.
Choose CUA Off
and then Execute
.
The decentralized system is disconnected.
Make the required changes to the master data in the decentralized system.
Call the Maintain System Landscape
application (transaction SCUA
).
Choose Reactivate CUA
.
The Change the CUA Connection
application appears.
Choose CUA On
and then Execute
.
The CUA connection is reestablished.
