 Requisitioning and Planning of Material

Purpose

For shortfalls, you supply organizational units (force elements) with non-consumable goods (NCGs) as part of a requisitioning or planning process.

Requisitioning describes the continuous process of supplying NCGs, using stock transport requisitions and stock transport orders.

Planning describes the process of providing initial supplies, using stock transport orders.

Prerequisites

To supply NCGs, users with different authorization levels must have been defined in the system.

A distinction is made between the material planner and the MRP controller . SAP’s authorization management functions are used to assign these users suitable roles that permit them to use different functions.

The material planner must have the necessary storage location authorizations for the stock list.

In Customizing , you can define a multitude of higher-level parameters, which you can use to configure the Material Categories Planning application in various ways, by choosing Start of the navigation path Defense Forces & Public Security Next navigation step Materials Management Next navigation step Parameters for Material Planning End of the navigation path .

You can define the document types f or the receiving plant for the Material Categories Planning application by choosing Start of the navigation path Defense Forces & Public Security Next navigation step Materials Management Next navigation step Define Document Types for Receiving Plants End of the navigation path . Process Flow

As the material planner , you call the Material Categories Planning application.

As the MRP controller , you call the Planning Workbench.

Planning

Planning is used if the supplier is known and the MRP controller no longer needs to intervene. Serial numbers can also be requested.

  1. In the Material Categories Planning application, the material planner creates a plan that defines the material, quantity, and supplier. The supplier can be selected in the same way as when purchase requisitions are created.

Planning usually takes place when an authorized/actual comparison identifies a shortfall. However, you can also start supply processes independently of the authorized/actual comparison by specifying a material planning object (MPO).

  2. The plan is converted to a stock transport order.

Converting the plan to a stock transport order triggers the logistics supply process and exits the planning level.

  3. The process is continued using the stock transport order and ends when the goods receipt is posted to the NCG stock of the force element awaiting supplies.

You can also use the Planning function to redistribute materials within a branch.

Generating Purchase Requisitions
Requisitioning process – material planner

In the Material Categories Planning application, the material planner creates a purchase requisition that the MRP controller processes.

The requisition is made based on the standard supplier.

Alternatively, the material planner can request materials from other logistics units, if authorized to do so.

Requisitioning process – MRP controller

MRP controllers receive a requisition list containing all purchase requisitions assigned to them. The system displays a stock/requirements list with all the receipts and issues for each storage location. MRP controllers can edit individual purchase requisitions from this list. Depending on their storage location authorization, MRP controllers can assign purchase requisitions to a storage location, convert purchase requisitions to purchase orders, or forward them to another force element. They can also run authorized/actual comparisons.

Requisitioning of MPOs without material

A material is not specified in the requisition. The requisition refers to an MPO or its models. An MPO enables various models of the same piece of technical equipment (such as a medium-sized truck) to be grouped conceptionally but does not relate to actual supply articles. The MRP controller decides which concrete material is to be delivered and converts the requisition to a purchase order.

Requisitioning of equipment packages

You use equipment packages (EPAs) to perform detailed planning quickly and efficiently for materials that are inextricably linked or that have to be moved together. For example, such materials could be a particular type of vehicle combined with a particular type of equipment.

EPAs are packed in handling units (HUs) and are available as stock in a separate HU storage location.

Requisitioning of serialized material

In the Planning Workbench , you can request a specific material with a specific serial number. For more information, see Requesting Serialized Material .
