The offsetting procedures
Avoid Surpluses
and
Avoid Delays
support the aim of creating as few surpluses or delays as possible during planning. Unlike the FIFO procedure, the planning is also relatively stable compared to various manual procedures. During the planning process, it is therefore possible to fix a receipt that lies after unfixed receipts, without causing severe changes to the overall plan.
The net requirements calculation of the standard heuristic SAP_PP_003 for
Planning shortage quantities
(algorithm /SAPAPO/HEU_PLAN_DEFICITS) and the
actions
that should cover new or changed dependent requirements immediately, always use the
Avoid Surpluses
procedure. For the standard net requirements calculation, you have a choice between the
Avoid Surpluses
procedure,
Avoid Delays
procedure, and the
FIFO procedure
.
The first two steps in the following process are identical for both procedures. The system only performs the third step for the
Avoid Surpluses
procedure.
The net requirements calculation has requirements that are in the past or within the planning time fence consume stock and fixed receipts that are in the past or within the planning time fence. The net requirements calculation proceeds according to the FIFO procedure in this step. Therefore, the net requirements calculation first has the earliest requirement consume the earliest stock and receipts, then the next requirement, and so on. (You should be aware of the Prerequisites for the FIFO Procedure .) For requirements that remain uncovered in this step, the net requirements calculation tries to have them consume receipts in the third step (see below).
The net requirements calculation has the later requirements lying outside the planning time fence consume the stock and fixed receipts that have not yet been consumed. The requirements can also be earlier, however, as long as the delay of the availability date/time does not exceed the alert threshold for delayed receipts. Note: For conti-heuristics(such as SAP_PP_C001), and for heuristics that consider shelf life conditions (such as SAP_PP_SL001), offsetting with earlier requirements is not possible.
Note
You define alert thresholds for receipts that are too early and too late in the location product master. For more information, see Monitor PP/DS Alerts .
If you have set the
Avoid Surpluses
procedure, the net requirements calculation has the earlier requirements consume the as yet unconsumed fixed receipts. This avoids the creation of surpluses. However, delays can occur. This step is omitted in the following applications:
In the
Avoid Delays
procedure
