ATP Check for an In-House Production Order in SAP R/3

Use

You can also perform an ATP check in SAP R/3 for an in-house production order with interchangeable components if you want to check the component availability after a manual order change in SAP R/3, for example. The system can execute an ATP check automatically for specific events. For example, in Customizing for Shop Floor Control in SAP R/3, you can define that the system should automatically execute an ATP check on creation of a manufacturing order in SAP R/3. Therefore, if you transfer manufacturing orders from SAP APO to SAP R/3, an ATP check takes place automatically.

The ATP check does not take account of the product interchangeability master data (InC master data) in SAP APO, even if the system executes the ATP check for the APO-relevant components in SAP APO. (Only the ATP check in PP/DS is able to take account of the product interchangeability master data.) The ATP check in SAP R/3 therefore does not update the components and dependent requirements from the order on the basis of supersession chain data.

Features

The ATP check differs for a planned order and a manufacturing order as follows:

  • For a planned order , the ATP check checks the availability for each item in the order, irrespective of other items.

  • For a manufacturing order , the ATP check first checks the availability of the component in the original item. If this component is not sufficiently available, the ATP check checks the component in the substitute item, while taking account of the remaining requirement for the original component.

Since the ATP check does not take account of the product interchangeability master data in SAP APO, the stock might be used up, even if the use-up strategy in SAP APO does not allow this, or only allows it with restrictions. For more information, see Avoiding Unallowed Use-Up of Stock
