Functions for Editing in the Context Menu You can use the context menu to edit structures and objects that you have loaded into the navigation area. The operations available in the context menu depend on the object you right-click and the user profile with which you are working.
You have the following editing options in the context menu in the change mode: The list includes all the functions that are available:
Expand/Collapse:
The structure below the selected node is expanded or collapsed to the next level.
Hide Tree:
The selected node and the subordinate structure are hidden in the navigation tree.
Continue Navigation:
The selected node becomes the header of a new structure. All subordinate and superior objects are hidden.
Add to Favorites/Add to Worklist:
The selected node is saved in the required section and you can use the favorites or the worklist to load the node for editing.
Tabular Display
The selected object is displayed in the tabular display on the detail screen.
See also: Tabular Maintenance
You can copy the selected object.
For more information, see Copying iPPE Objects and Structures .
You can delete the selected object and all its variants and alternatives.
You can change the technical name of the object.
The selected object is locked for other users. Other users cannot make any changes when the object is locked. You can use the
Unlock
option to reset the lock, so that other users can change the object.
Under certain conditions, you can change the product class assignment for the selected node:
The system checks whether changing the product class would invalidate existing relationships and allows the change only when all the existing relationships remain valid with the new product class assignment.
The system checks whether there is differentiation at the variants for the node. The system checks whether the classes for the differentiation are subclasses of the class to which the node is to be assigned. The system does not allow you to change the product class when this is not the case.
When a node is not assigned to a product class but its variants have differentiation, you cannot assign it to a product class later.
You can change the node type of an existing node when the following prerequisites are met:
The application must not be changed. For example, you cannot convert a node for the product structure into a node for the process structure.
The change must not invalidate existing relationships to other objects.
Create Relationship:
You can link the selected object to other objects. You can choose from the relationships permitted by Customizing. You can create relationships to existing objects or to objects that do not yet exist. If the object does not yet exist, a dialog box is displayed for creating new objects.
You can create hierarchy relationships (to set up a product structure, for example), and assign objects (components to an activity, for example).
Delete Relationship:
You can delete an existing relationship that points to a higher-level object in the hierarchy.
Copying a Structure:
For more information, see Copying iPPE Objects and Structures .
Structure Comparison:
For more information, see Structure Comparison .
The selected object is loaded in the product structure browser and you can display the classes and structures in which the selected object is included. You can also display superior and subordinate objects, predecessors and successors.

Caution
The list of functions is limited by whether you are in change or display mode, by the user profile with which you are working, and by the object you wish to edit.
Send with Note:
You can send the node with a description to another user in the system and the other user can use the node to access a structure.
