This function lets you display the current stock situation and the expected future stock development, to identify potential shortages in stock in due time.
You can choose from the following time series (all without safety amounts) as the calculation base to display the stock projection:
(Mean) Active forecast without planning data
Planning data
For more information, see Planning Data.
Active forecast
Planning data, if any, is taken into account here.
In addition, you can show negative values as zero stock in the stock projection display.
The system does not save the time series of the stock projection in the database; it generates it on demand based on the current stock. SAP F&R calculates the stock projection for the future by taking expected goods receipts and goods issues (sales) into account. To calculate to stock projection in the past, SAP F&R uses the actual goods receipts and goods issues.
You have defined past periods for the determination of open order proposal quantities for the F&R Processor. For more information on past periods, see the Implementation Guide (IMG) of Forecasting and Replenishment
under .
You can display the range of coverage of the current stock, the open goods receipts, and the order quantity of the order proposal items compared to the predefined planning data or forecast data in tables or charts. Goods issues are also taken into account in the display.
You can test changes to the quantity and date of an order proposal and simulate the effects these changes would have on the stock projection. To do so, click the symbol with quick info Goods Receipts/Goods Issues
. The system does not save these changes in the database. Instead, it collects them in a log until you exit the application.
Restrictions
You cannot create a new order proposal or order proposal item from the stock situation display.
Stock calculation
The following applies for the calculation of stocks within a period (day or week):
The stock is calculated per day, even with the granularity Week
.
The system assumes that all receipts for the day are available to balance out the issues for the day.
Depending on the indicator for taking negative stock into account in the requirement calculation, the system sets the negative stock to zero.
The stock calculation follows the same rules that the requirement calculation follows. We differentiate between the following cases for the calculation of the day's stock:
Current day
Day's closing stock = current stock + open receipts for the current day + open receipts with delivery date in the past – open issues with delivery date in the past – open issues for the current day – (planning data for the current day – accumulated sales for the current day)
Note
In the automatic requirement calculation, the system assumes that the current stock is the opening stock for the planning day.
Previous day
Day's closing stock = current stock + completed issues for the current day – completed receipts for the current day + sales for the current day
Past days
Day's closing stock = next day's closing stock + completed issues on next day – completed receipts on next day + sales on next day
Note
Not all goods movements (for example, breakage or shrinkage) are available in SAP F&R. In addition, you can delete completed goods movements. Therefore, the stock projection in the past is inaccurate.
Future days
Day's closing stock = previous day's closing stock + open receipts for the day – open issues for the day – forecast or planning data for the day
Formulas:
St0 = St + GR0 + GRn – GIn – GI0 – (P0 – S0) for n < 0
St – 1 = St – GR0 + GR0 + S0
Stn = Stn +1 – GRn + 1 + GIn + 1 + Sn +1 for i < -1
Stn = Stn – 1 + GRn – GIn – Pn for n > 0
Legend:
St: Current stock
St0: Current day's closing stock
St–1: Yesterday's closing stock
P0: Planning data and forecast data for the current day
S0: Sales for the current day
Stn: Day's closing stock in nth period (day)
GRn: Open/completed receipts in nth period (day)
GIn: Open/completed issues in nth period (day)
Pn: Forecast or planning data in nth period (day)
Sn: Sales in nth period (day)
Select the location and the product. When you focus on the location product, the Time Series
and Stock Projection
areas appear. You can only simulate changes in this standalone time series. To do this, choose Goods Receipts/Goods Issues
.
