 Distribution of Sources of Supply

Use

In SAP R/3, the sources of supply are valid for the entire plant or for specific storage locations only. If you integrate the sources of supply with SAP APO, the sources of supply in SAP APO are automatically “distributed” among the locations in SAP APO according to their validity area in SAP R/3 and created in the plant location and storage location MRP areas to which they are relevant. Storage location information in the external procurement sources of supply and production versions in SAP R/3 form the basis of the assignment.

Prerequisites

You have integrated the sources of supply with SAP APO. For more information, see Initial Transfer of Storage Location MRP Areas .

Features

Sources of Supply for External Procurement
  • Info records and contracts without a receiving storage location are available in SAP APO in the plant location and in the storage location MRP areas. In SAP APO, the required transportation lanes are automatically created for an external procurement relationship.

  • Scheduling agreements without receiving storage locations are only valid in the plant location.

  • External procurement sources of supply (info records, contracts, and scheduling agreements) with storage location are only available in the storage location MRP area to which the storage location belongs.

Sources of Supply for In-House Production
  • If no receiving storage location has been entered in the production version of a material in SAP R/3, an in-house production source of supply is automatically created in SAP APO for the product in the plant location and in all storage location MRP areas. All in-house production sources of supply use the same plan, which has been automatically created from SAP R/3 data and whose resources are in the plant location.

  • If a receiving storage location has been entered in an SAP R/3 production version, the in-house production source of supply is created in SAP APO in the storage location MRP area to which the storage location belongs. The resources for the plan are in the plant location.
