Initial Transfer of Storage Location MRP Areas

Purpose

You use the procedure described here if you have already integrated the master and transaction data from a plant in SAP R/3 with SAP APO and now also want to integrate the plant’s storage location MRP areas with SAP APO. In this process, you transfer the products, sources of supply, and transaction data that are relevant for planning with storage location MRP areas in SAP APO.

Prerequisites

In SAP R/3, MRP area processing is active for the plant. This means that you have created storage location MRP areas and have assigned them materials that you also want to plan in storage location MRP areas.

Process

  1. You create an integration model for the storage location MRP areas in which you make the following settings:

    • To transfer the storage location MRP areas, you set the MRP Areas indicator in the integration model. You use the selection criteria to define the MRP areas that you want to transfer to SAP R/3.

    • To transfer the materials that are assigned to the storage location MRP areas, you set the MRP Area Material indicator.

  2. To transfer the storage location MRP areas to SAP APO, you activate the integration model. The materials that are assigned to a storage location MRP area are transferred automatically as location products to the storage location MRP area in SAP APO.

  3. You reactivate the integration model with the sources of supply. The sources of supply are thus transferred automatically to the relevant locations in SAP APO (plant location or storage location MRP areas). For more information, see Distribution of Sources of Supply.

In the transfer of in-house production sources of supply (production process models or PP/DS runtime objects), storage locations are determined automatically for the components, co-products, and by-products. The components are withdrawn from these storage locations, or the co-products and by-products are placed in storage there. For more information, see Storage Location Determination in Source Transfer to SAP APO.

  4. You reactivate the integration model with the transaction data. The transaction data in SAP APO is thus transferred automatically to the relevant locations (plant location or storage location MRP areas). If transaction data is relevant for a storage location MRP area that you have not transferred to SAP APO, this transaction data is automatically transferred to the plant location.

Result

If you want to plan procurement processes in SAP APO that you cannot map using the transferred sources of supply, you have to create these sources of supply in SAP APO. For example, you require a transportation lane for the stock transfer between two storage location MRP areas.
