Maintaining the External-Facing PortalLocate this document in the navigation structure

Purpose

This IT process describes the steps for maintaining and monitoring an external-facing portal.

Prerequisites

Process Flow

The following activities can be performed in any sequence on an as-needed basis:

  1. Define quick links for specific portal content (content administrator).

Quick links enable administrators to create shortcuts to portal content so users can enter short, easy-to-remember URLs to access the content.

  2. Monitor performance and usage statistics (system administrator).
  3. The portal provides reporting tools that display statistics on how many users entered the portal and what content was viewed. These tools are designed to work with and display statistics about anonymous users. In addition, you can view information about specific groups, for example, registered and anonymous users.

Result

By monitoring the short-, medium- and long-term activities of portal users, administrators can adjust the portal settings to improve its performance and generate better acceptance by users. Content delivered to portal users can also be customized and enriched to help users accomplish specific tasks more efficiently and to make new features available.
