You use this variant to implement and monitor your enterprise data warehouse. It covers data modeling (modeling InfoProviders), data acquisition (defining sources and transfer mechanisms), the transformation of data including data distribution, and also enables metadata and document management.
This variant allows you to integrate varous source systems into a single enterprise data warehouse. As well as integrating various technical platforms, you can also consolidate different master and transaction data semantics.
Flexible structures and layers allow you to adapt quickly to new business challenges (such as changed objectives, mergers and acquisitions).
The following figure provides an overview of the architecture of the variant:
IT Processes in the Scenario Variant
This scenario variant consists of the following IT processes:
| Process | Description |
|---|---|
In this process, you create highly flexible and differentiated data models. You use these data models to model various enterprise data warehouse layers. |
|
In this process, you manage metadata and documents, search in them or exchange them with other BI systems, and create documentation on metadata. |
|
In this process, you connect your BI system to heterogenous source systems either directly or using SAP NetWeaver XI. The process also supports direct access to data in source systems. |
|
In this process, you consolidate, cleanse and integrate data. You can perform semantic synchronization of data from various sources. |
|
In this process, you distribute data from your data warehouse to other data warehouses if you are operating several data warehouses. |
