Procedure documentation Analyzing Data in an Analysis Grid (with Navigation and Filter Panes)  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Use

In a Web application, data is displayed in tables in the standard setting. You can use various navigation functions and additional areas, like the navigation pane and the filter pane, for data analysis purposes.

The Analysis Web item displays the values of a data provider as a table in the Web application. The list geometries that are used in BEx Analyzer are also supported here. Characteristics and structures can be displayed in both rows and columns.

The Navigation Pane Web item shows the navigational state of a data provider. All the characteristics and structures of the data provider are listed. The navigational state specifies which characteristics and key figures are located in the columns, cells and free characteristics, and the order in which they are displayed.

The Filter Pane Web item displays the characteristics of the data provider and enables users to filter characteristics according to their characteristic values.

Procedure

Navigating in the Data Using Drag and Drop

Change the navigational state of the query view in a Web application by using drag and drop between the analysis grid and the navigation pane, or between the analysis grid, the navigation pane, and the filter pane.

Drag the characteristics or structures from the navigation pane to an axis (rows or columns) in the analysis grid, or remove them fully from the axes.

To remove characteristics or structures form the analysis grid, drag them to the navigation pane or to an empty area of the Web application.

The analysis grid and the corresponding data are updated to reflect the new components in the drilldown.

Swap the axes in the navigation area by dragging them. The analysis grid changes accordingly.

More information: Example: Swapping Axes in the Navigation Pane Using Drag and Drop

Drag characteristics or structures within the navigation pane and arrange them as required.

The analysis grid and the corresponding data are updated to reflect the new components in the drilldown.

More information: Example: Moving a Characteristic in the Navigation Pane Using Drag and Drop

Drag characteristics or structural components within the analysis grid and arrange them as required.

The analysis grid and the corresponding data are updated to reflect the new components in the drilldown.

Drag a characteristic or characteristic value from the navigation pane to a cell in the analysis grid.

A detail view is then displayed. This view provides a breakdown of the figures for the cell.

More information: Example: Dragging and Dropping Characteristics to a Data Cell

Drag a characteristic to a characteristic value for another characteristic.

The data for the characteristic value (such as product group Bag & Outdoor) is displayed based on the characteristic (such as Distribution Channel) that you dragged to the characteristic value.

More information: Example: Dragging and Dropping Characteristics to a Characteristic Value of Another Characteristic

Drag a characteristic value to the corresponding characteristic in the analysis grid.

The data for this characteristic value only is displayed. This drag and drop action is similar to the Select Filter Value function in the context menu.

More information: Example: Dragging and Dropping Characteristic Values to a Characteristic

Drag a characteristic value to another characteristic in the analysis grid.

Only the data for these two characteristic values is displayed in the analysis grid.

More information: Example: Dragging and Dropping Characteristic Values to Another Characteristic Value

To cancel a drag and drop action, press Esc.

Sorting Data by Drag and Drop

You can sort the characteristic values or structural components by drag and drop. The characteristic values or structural components that you have moved are then fixed in this order, while the others remain according to their settings.

This allows you, for example, to sort the countries for a region alphabetically, but to place a country of your choice (Germany, for example) at the top of the list.. Another example would be to re-arrange the structural components in the columns by dragging a given column (such as Sales) forward.

You can also use this function for characteristics with an active presentation hierarchy, for example in order to re-arrange the sibling nodes in a node.

Selecting Rows and Columns

You can select table rows and columns by clicking the row or column headers or by clicking a cell in the row or column. To deselect the row or column, click it again.

If you click the cell that intersects a row and column, both the row and column are selected. To deselect this row and column, select the row or column header.

Note

This function cannot be used in input-ready cells.

Navigating in the Data Using the Context Menu Functions

In the navigation pane, you can execute various functions in the context menu for a characteristic description (such as a component).

As well as the context menu for the characteristic row (such as a component), the analysis grid provides a context menu for the characteristic values (such as casing, or network) or structural components.

Manually Entering Data for Planning

If you have assigned an input-ready query to the data provider of the Analysis Web item, you can enter data manually using the input-ready cells in the analysis grid.
