Use

You can save workbooks or views using the Save function in the analysis toolbar or in the BEx Analyzer menu.  The Save dialog box is a general service shared by all Business Explorer applications. However, certain options in the Save function are specific to BEx Analyzer.

Features

Save features and the corresponding background relevant for BEx Analyzer are described below.

Save Workbook

You can use this function to save existing workbooks in a BI system.

After opening a workbook or embedding a query into a new workbook, you can navigate in the query and generate different views of the data.  You can also change settings for characteristic display or for the whole query. When customizing your workbook by inserting design items, you can decide whether to save this new view of the query with the workbook.  To do this, configure the Restore Initial Query View on Refresh property in the Create Data Provider or Change Data Provider dialog boxes (see Configuring Data Providers) for each data provider.

If you want a user to be able to save the state of the query after analyzing and navigating, deselect Restore Initial Query View on Refreshfor each data provider.  Otherwise, the workbook opens with the original state of the query or query view. This allows the power user who creates and configures the workbooks to determine the extent to which the user can interact with and navigate in the query.

When you save the workbook, the query is not detached. When you subsequently open the workbook, connect to the server, and refresh the data contained in the workbook, your query is updated with the most recent data from the server.

Save Workbook As

You can use this function to save a workbook in a BI system under a new name.

Save View

You can use this function to save the current navigational state (view) of the data provider assigned to the design item in the currently active cell. When you save the query view, you can use it as the data provider for BEx Web Application Designer, BEx Report Designer and the Visual Composer.
