When you start the BEx Analyzer, the BEx Analyzer menu and two toolbars are displayed in Microsoft Excel. You access design functions using the design toolbar (BEx Design Toolbox) and the BEx Analyzer → Design Toolbar menu. All the functions available in the toolbar are also available in the menu.
You can show or hide the design toolbar in Microsoft Excel by choosing View → Toolbars → BEx Design Toolbox.
You can use this toggle function to manually switch between the BEx Analyzer modes:
● If you are in analysis mode and want to switch to design mode, choose Design Mode in the design toolbar, or BEx Analyzer → Design Toolbar → Design Mode in the menu.
● If you are in design mode and want to switch to analysis mode, choose Exit Design Mode in the design toolbar, or BEx Analyzer → Design Toolbar → Exit Design Mode in the menu.

There are eleven design items, each of which you can insert by choosing the relevant tool in the analysis toolbar or menu option in the BEx Analyzer → Design Toolbar menu:

You use the workbook settings function to configure general functions or apply themes to individual workbooks:
● Choose Workbook Settings in the design toolbar, or BEx Analyzer → Design Toolbar → Workbook Settings in the menu.

The names of each design item you have inserted into the workbook are listed at the end of the BEx Analyzer → Design Toolbar menu to enable you to access design item properties from the menu. These menu options are only active in design mode.
● In design mode, choose BEx Analyzer → Design Toolbar → [Design Item Name] in the menu. The properties dialog box for the selected design item appears.
To access design item properties using the mouse while in design mode, choose the icon for the design item.
