Process documentationConfiguring and Adapting Visual Composer Applications Locate this document in the navigation structure

This process enables a modeler to change an application modeled in Visual Composer to meet a customer's specific requirements, including substituting data services and modifying the UI as needed.

Use of the Process

This process is part of the following IT scenario:

Prerequisites

The application to be configured and/or adapted has been modeled in Visual Composer.

Process

The steps of this IT process include:

  • Define systems and aliases

For modeling a new application or adapting an existing one, the system administrator configures the required connections to back-end systems by creating systems in the portal's System Landscape Editor.

  • Personalize the application as needed

Each modeled application that has been deployed to the portal can be adapted to the runtime user's personal specifications as needed.

  • Reconfigure/change the application if necessary

The modeler can open the application in Visual Composer (accessed either from the portal or directly in Visual Composer Storyboard) and make changes to the model, including changing and/or adding data services, changing specifications of UI elements and adding other model components.

  • Redeploy to Portal

Once the changes have been made, the modeler tests the application as describes in the previous process (Testing and Deploying Visual Composer Applications) and the redeploys the adapted application to the portal.

  • Redefine pages and roles

The portal system administrator updates the assignments of the application to portal pages and roles.
