Creating a Restriction (with the Dependency Editor)

Use

This procedure describes what you need to do when creating a restriction if you have created the object dependency for a restriction with SAP syntax in the (old) Dependency Editor.

Note Note

The system cannot convert object dependencies that were maintained in SAP syntax into customer syntax. This means you cannot use customer syntax for this restriction when you process the restriction in the Enhanced Dependency Editor ( Dependencies tab page).

End of the note.

Prerequisites

You have hidden the Dependencies tab page in your User Settings and the Display/Change Characteristic Value Assignment function keys are showing. See also: Defining the Dependency Editor

Procedure

  1. Choose Start of the navigation path Production Planning Next navigation step Automated Production Planning and Optimization Next navigation step Model MixPlanning Next navigation step Create/Change Restriction Maintenance End of the navigation path .

The system displays the screen entitled Access Restriction Maintenance for Model Mix Planning .

  2. Enter the following data:

    • Planning Version : Note that you cannot change the planning version later.

    • Start Date : You can specify a start date. This date is then displayed as the start date for the restrictions. When creating a new restriction, this date is automatically proposed as the start date.

If you do not want to specify any date, select No Start Date. Then, the system displays the date from which a restriction is valid as the start date in both the start date view and in the vertical period view.

    • The Production Line to which you want to assign the restriction. This line then appears in the application as the default value. You can also enter a group of alternative lines instead of the line.

  3. Choose .

    The Restrictions: Maintain screen appears.

  4. Select a line in the navigation tree and choose Restriction.

In the data section of the screen, the system displays the screen section entitled Restriction .

  5. In the Name field, enter the name of the restriction and in the adjacent field enter a description.

  6. Select a restriction category from the list provided. Note that you cannot change the restriction category later.

  7. Choose the Conversion to quantity restriction in the Conversion field for the spacing restrictions and the K-in-M restrictions to be taken into account by the LP procedure.

  8. If you do not want to release the restriction for planning immediately, select the Locked indicator under Status.

  9. Choose the Characteristic function key.

The Dependency Type dialog box appears. The Selection Condition field is selected.

  10. Choose .

The system accesses the dependency editor where you can create the object dependency (combination of characteristic values) for this restriction.

  11. Assign the values using the standard dependency editor syntax rules.

  12. Check your entries in the characteristic valuation by choosing and correct any errors.

  13. To save your entries, choose .

The system returns to the Restrictions: Maintain screen where it now also displays the tab page Start Date View .

  14. For the first period of validity, enter the start date , the start shift and, if necessary, the reference shift as well as the minimum/maximum quantity for the characteristic values and the weighting .

  15. If you do not want to use the restriction for a certain period, add a new row where you set the Inactive indicator. Then add another row where you specify from when the restriction is to be taken into account again in planning and which quantity and weighting is to be used.

  16. Choose to save the restriction.

Result

You have created a restriction. If you want to create more restrictions, you can use this restriction as a template by choosing Restriction.
