Carrying Out Block Planning You can use this function to specify blockson the resource. A block is uniquely defined by the assigned block basis definition (block rule number) and the end date/time. The start date/time of the block is automatically defined by the preceding block.
You define the blocks for a resource that is not yet assigned to a planning version. If you later assign a planning version to the resource, the system copies the blocks in the planning version. The copied blocks are attached to the planning version and can be changed within it.
You meet the general prerequisites (see Prerequisites for Planning )
The products must be assigned a class with class type 400 in SAP APO.
The characteristics in SAP APO must match the characteristics from the R/3 system. The characteristics should therefore be transferred from the R/3 system (plug-in).
You are using primary resources.
You have defined resources planned on blocks as the calendar resources.
Only activities of the type
Produce
are relevant to block planning.
If you are using production process model plans (PPMs) as the source of supply for in-house production, you must have defined a characteristic propagation (see Define Characteristic Propagation ).
Block planning has the following functions:
Create block basis definition
You specify the characteristic requirements for the class in the block basis definition. A block definition refers to the class, not the current resource. If you change the block basis definition, the system changes the characteristics requirements of all blocks that use this block basis definition for this class. If you delete a block basis definition, the system replaces all blocks on resources that have used this block basis definition by free blocks.
Define reference cycle
You can group several block basis definitions with relative durations in a reference cycle, and use them for recurring block sequences.
Create and process blocks
You can create the blocks individually with the corresponding block basis definitions, or add a predefined sequence of blocks using reference cycles. You can process the blocks you have created in a table or in a graph (see Graphical Block Maintenance ).
Note
You can use the heuristic
Enhanced Block Maintenance
(SAP_CDPBP_03) for creating and editing blocks in the resource. You can create, delete, move, and change the length of blocks.
Block planning does not require a configurable product or a configuration scheme set to CDP. However, there are restrictions for some system settings.
