 Block Planning Without Configuration

Purpose

You can also use products for block planning that are not configurable in the ERP system. You can proceed in several different ways, depending on whether you are using production data structures (PDS) or production process models (PPMs) as the source of supply for the master data.

If you are not using any configurable products for block planning, then the system cannot determine the characteristics for an activity from the configuration of a sales order. The system adopts the values from the classification for routing operations in the ERP system, or via standard valuations at the activities in the PPM plans in SAP APO (note that these values cannot be changed). This means that you must create a separate routing and product process model plan for each product.

Prerequisites

If you are using production data structures, you must implement and activate the BAdI CUSLNTRTO_ADDIN with method USE_OPERATION_CLASSIFICATION . You must set X for the parameter EV_TRUE .

Process Flow

Production Data Structures:
  1. In the ERP system, classify the routing operations in a class with class type 018.

  2. Transfer the class characteristics to SAP APO.

Transfer the characteristics via the integration as additional characteristics as the classes with class type 018 are not transferred to SAP APO (see Integration of Classes and Characteristics ).

  3. Create a class with class type 400 in SAP APO, and assign the characteristics to it.

  4. Define blocks on the relevant resource using the characteristics of the class.

  5. Transfer the master data (BOM and routing) as production data structures to SAP APO.

  6. The order is transferred to SAP APO via the product.

  7. In SAP APO, the order is scheduled in the relevant block based on the characteristic value assignment at the operation.

Production process model plans:
  1. Create blocks for a resource with a class with class type 400 in SAP APO.

  2. Call up the characteristic propagation for a PPM plan (see Define Characteristics Propagation ).

  3. The system compares all resources on which the activities of the PPM plan can run. If the class with class type 400 is assigned to all resources, the system will propose this class for the characteristics propagation.

  4. Create a standard valuation for the activities.

To do so, display the component details in the characteristics propagation and choose Std Evaluation .

You can specify the characteristic values for the activity on the dialog box.

  5. The order is transferred to SAP APO via the product.

  6. The order is transferred to SAPO APO and is scheduled in the relevant block based on the characteristic value assignment at the activity.
