Background documentation Inventory Alerts for Replenishment Planning  Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

An inventory alert for replenishment planning is an alert for the projected stock or for the actual stock on hand. The following options are available for generating an inventory alert:

The Post Processing Framework (PPF) generates the alert when an XML message of type ProductActivityNotification is received. By default, alert generation is not active. The system administrator must activate alert generation in the PPF (application /SCA/ICH, action profile /SCA/BOL_INVENTORY, action /SCA/BOL_INV_DCM_STOCK_CHECK or action profile /SCA/BOL_DEMAND, action /SCA/BOL_DEM_PROJSTOCK_CHECK).

System administration executes the Generate Inventory Alerts for Replenishment Planning report (/SCA/INVALERTSWRITE) on a regular basis. To call the report for online processing, on the SAP Easy Access screen, choose Supply Network Collaboration ® Exceptions ® Alert Generation ® Generate Inventory Alerts for Replenishment Planning.

The following table contains the alert types for stocks:

Note

If the projected stock violates the minimum stock level or falls to zero within the lead time, this is particularly critical: If you use the means of transport that is normally intended, the product does not reach the customer until after the desired delivery date.

Use of Alert Types

In the Supplier Managed Inventory business scenario, in which you control the replenishment through the minimum stock level, the maximum stock level, and the reorder point, all alert types are relevant. In the Responsive Replenishment business scenario (net-demand-based replenishment), the maximum stock level and the alerts for exceeding the maximum stock level are not relevant.
