Object documentationInventory Counting / Posting / Opening Balances - Items Selection Criteria Window

For inventory counting, inventory posting, and inventory opening balance documents, you can use the <Parent Window> - Items Selection Criteria window to define various selection criteria to select a range of items. If a selected warehouse contains bin locations, you can narrow down your selection even further by restricting bin locations.

To access this window, in the Inventory Counting, Inventory Posting, or Inventory Opening Balance window, choose the Add Items button and then choose Select Items.

Recommendation Recommendation

Split inventory counting results across several documents and restrict your item selection as much as possible, depending on the system capability of your working computer. For example, create documents per warehouse, per bin location, or per item group.

This topic documents fields and other elements in this window that either are not self-explanatory or require additional information.

End of the note.

Items Fields
Preferred Vendor

The default preferred vendor of an item. Even if an item has only one preferred vendor, but the preferred vendor is not set as default, this criterion does not apply to the item.

Warehouses Fields

The system selects only one warehouse by default. If the current user has a default warehouse (depending on the linked user defaults defined in the Defaults field of the corresponding Users - Setup window), this warehouse is selected; otherwise, the company-level default warehouse is selected (Start of the navigation path Administration Next navigation step System Initialization Next navigation step General Settings Next navigation step Inventory Next navigation step Items End of the navigation path.

Exclude Warehouses for Items with Zero Quantity

Some warehouses may not store an item, or the system record of the item is currently zero in the warehouse. If you want to exclude from selection items with a zero quantity in these warehouses, select this checkbox.

If the counting results reveal that an item does exist in a warehouse that has been excluded, you can manually add rows in the document to record the discrepancy between the system and the actual storage.

Note that if your company allows negative inventory, and the quantity of an item falls below 0 in a warehouse, the item in this warehouse is not excluded from selection.

Bin Locations

Choose this button to further restrict item selection by defining selection criteria for bin locations. For more information, see Inventory Counting / Posting - Bin Location Selection Criteria Window.

This button is available only if at least one selected warehouse has bin locations.
