Allocating Serial or Batch Items to Bin Locations
During inventory receipt, while SAP Business One can allocate serial and batch items to bin locations automatically, you can also allocate manually.

The following procedure explains how to manually allocate items that are managed by serials or batches to bin locations:
You have enabled bin locations for your warehouse.
For more information, see Enabling Bin Locations.
If a serial or batch item is managed on every transaction, SAP Business One requires you to record the serial or batch information whenever there is an inventory movement of the item.

To indicate that a serial or batch item is managed on every transaction, in the Management Method
field in the Item Master Data
window, select On Every Transaction
.
To allocate serial or batch items managed on every transaction to bin locations, proceed as follows:
From the SAP Business One Main Menu
, open a receipt document.
In the receipt document, specify the serial or batch item, quantity and warehouse.
Open the Serial Numbers - Setup
or the Batches - Setup
window.
To do so, place the cursor in the Quantity
field of the receipt document and proceed accordingly:
Inventory transfer
Right-click and choose Allocate Serials/Batches to Whse
.
From the Goto
menu, choose Allocate Serials/Batches to Whse
.
All documents with the receiving of items, excluding inventory transfer

Press Ctrl + Tab.
Right-click and choose Batch/Serial Numbers
.
From the Goto
menu, choose Batch/Serial Numbers
.
To specify the serial or batch information for the items and allocate them to bin locations, proceed in either of the following ways:
For serial items
In the Serial Numbers - Setup
window, specify the serial information in the Serial Number
field. Then, in the Bin Location
field, select the bin location
where you want to place the serial item.
Alternatively, you can create the serial numbers using the Automatic Creation
pushbutton. In the Bin Location
field of the Automatic Serial Numbers Creation
window, you can specify a bin location to
store all serial items.
Note
After you have allocated the serial items to bin locations, you can still change the bin location allocation centrally using the Reallocate Bin Locations
pushbutton in the Serial Numbers - Setup
window.

For batch items
In the Batches - Setup
window, specify the batch information in the Batch
and Quantity
fields. Then, in the Bin Location Allocation
field,
click
(Link Arrow
) to open the Bin Location Allocation - Receipt
window, where you can select the bin locations in which you want to place the batch
items.
Alternatively, you can create the batches using the Automatic Creation
pushbutton. In the Automatic Batch Creation
window, you can specify a bin location to store all batches in the Bin Location
field.
In the Serial Numbers - Setup
or the Batches - Setup
window, choose OK
. The window closes.
To add the receipt document, choose Add
in the document.
If a serial or batch item is managed on release only, SAP Business One requires you to record the serial or batch information only when the item is issued. For the receipt of the item, you can decide whether to maintain the serial or batch information or not.

To indicate a serial or batch item is managed on release only, select On Release Only
in the Management Method
field in the Item Master Data
window.
To allocate serial or batch items managed on release only to bin locations, do either of the following:
If you want to record the serial or batch information, proceed according to the steps in the previous section: Allocating Serial or Batch Items Managed on Every Transaction to Bin Locations.
If you do not want to record the serial or batch information, proceed according to the steps in Allocating Regular Items to Bin Locations.
