Object documentationStatus of Tasks

The following statuses exist for tasks:

Status

Meaning

Created

The task has been created in the system (initial status).

Released

See Releasing Project Elements.

In Process

The task is processed, actual data is confirmed.

Completed

The processing of the task is completed.

Canceled

The task is not completed successfully.

If the task is canceled, the subtasks are also canceled.

You can complete a task even if it contains subtasks that were canceled if you have selected the checkbox Complete in Customizing for Project Management under Start of the navigation path Structure Next navigation step Define Task Types End of the navigation path.

In Customizing under Start of the navigation path Project Management Next navigation step Structure Next navigation step Define Task Type End of the navigation path, you can specify that the system sets the value for Percent Completion to 100% automatically when you complete a task (see Dates and Work tab). The 100% completion value persists even, if the status Complete is recalled.

When a task is cancelled, all relationships between the task and its predecessors and successors are deleted by default. If you want to preserve the relationships, make the appropriate entry for area 0012 Scheduling and Project Structuring, setting 0006 Preserve Relationships When Cancelling Tasks in Customizing for SAP Portfolio and Project Management under Start of the navigation path Project Management Next navigation step Basic Settings Next navigation step Override Default Global Settings End of the navigation path.

Integration

The following dependencies exist between the status of phases (see Status of Phases) and the status of tasks:

  • The release of the phase leads to the release of all the tasks. It is possible to release tasks before releasing the phase.

  • Locking a phase does not influence the status of the tasks. However, it is not possible to process the tasks if the phase is locked.

More Information

For information about how status processing can be adjusted to customer-specific needs, see Status Management.
