 Bill of Material

Definition

Structures a material and represents a directory of all components (items) that belong to a material.

Structure

A bill of material (BOM) is superordinate to a material. A bill of material cannot be created without assigning a material. A bill of material consists of a number of items.

A bill of material can have different versions.

Bill of material versions can also be linked to documents.

BOM Item Long Text

If you import and export BOMs between the back-end system and cFolders, you can also import and export BOM long texts. You specify whether you want to import and export BOM item long texts in Customizing for Integration with Other mySAP.com Components under Start of the navigation path Collaboration Folders Next navigation step Specify cFolders System Data End of the navigation path . If you set the BOM item longtext indicator, long text in BOM items are taken into account during the import and export of BOMs.

Caution Caution

Any formatting in the BOM item long text is lost during the export from the back-end system.
