 Attribute-Based Search

Use

You use this function to perform a more accurate search for objects in cFolders by searching using attributes, either of a generic object or of an object category. Each type of generic object or object category can have unique attributes that provide additional information about a specific object. You can perform this search with or without using TREX .

Prerequisites

You have created generic objects or defined object categories .

Activities

How you perform the attribute-based search depends on whether you have enabled TREX.

Note Note

For information about enabling TREX, see SAP Note 1015019.

End of the note.
TREX Enabled

If you perform the attribute-based search using TREX, the system executes the search in the foreground.

On the Search screen, which you access by choosing Search from the navigation tree on the left, you choose Attribute-Based Search .In the dropdown box of the Object Type field on the Attribute-Based Search screen, you select the generic object type or the object category for which you want to search. This is mandatory. The attributes of the selected generic object type or object category that you can use as the basis for your search are displayed. You enter the known attributes of the object you are searching for. As in all types of searches in cFolders, you can use wildcard placeholders. You can narrow down your search further by specifying a collaboration in the Collaboration Name field. The system searches for objects that match all of your search criteria.

TREX Disabled

The attribute-based search without TREX runs in the background and you can save your search.

On the My Global Search Requests screen, which you access by choosing Search from the navigation tree on the left, you choose Create to define a new search. After entering a name and, optionally, a description for your new search, you choose Attribute-Based Search to define the search criteria of the objects for which you want to search. After the system has executed the search, you search is saved and displayed on the My Global Search Requests screen. You access the search results by clicking on the search name. If you want to refine your search criteria, you can choose Repeat Search .

In both variants, the system displays the objects that match your search criteria by collaboration. You can branch directly to the object from the Search Result screen by selecting the object name.
