Function documentationPortfolio Details and Classification Details

 

With this function you can view and edit the details of an existing portfolio or classification, modify user authorizations, and work with attached objects. You can update the information in this object if you have sufficient write authorization.

  • You navigate to these screens, by choosing Start of the navigation path Portfolio Management Next navigation step Portfolio Structure End of the navigation path or Start of the navigation path Portfolio and Project Administration Next navigation step Portfolio Structure End of the navigation path. Then choose the Portfolio Details pushbutton.

    Note Note

    If you have chosen a classification hierarchy in the portfolio, then the Classification Details screen opens. It has the same views and functions as the Portfolio Details screen.

  • To change the portfolio or classification hierarchy that is currently displayed, choose the Switch Portfolio orSwitch Hierarchy/Bucket pushbutton.

    Here, you can view or change information about the portfolio or classification hierarchy in the fields described below.

    Name

    Mandatory

    An alphanumeric field describing the portfolio.

    ID

    Mandatory

    An unique identifier for the portfolio. It cannot be changed.

    Type

    Mandatory

    The portfolio type.

    Explanation

    Optional

    An explanation of the portfolio.

    Description

    Optional

    A detailed description about the portfolio.

    Status

    Mandatory

    Indicates whether the portfolio is active or inactive.

    Classification

    System generated

    Indicates, when selected, that this is a classification hierarchy instead of a standard portfolio hierarchy. This field is display only.

    Main Portfolio

    System generated

    The name of the parent portfolio if this is a classification hierarchy. This field is display only and is visible only if this object is a classification hierarchy.

    Mandatory

    System generated

    Indicates, when selected, that the items and initiatives assigned to the parent portfolio must also be assigned to this classification hierarchy. This field is display only and is visible only if this object is a classification hierarchy.

    Created On

    System generated

    The date on which this portfolio was created. This field is display only.

    Changed On

    System generated

    The date on which this portfolio was last updated. This field is display only.

  • Classification Hierarchies

    Here, the classification hierarchies are displayed. You can choose the classification hierarchy name to open the Classification Details screen.

Items, Initiatives, Collections, Reviews, Buckets, Documents and Notes

In the Items, Initiatives, Collections, Reviews, and Buckets views, you can see the objects that are attached to this portfolio or classification hierarchy. You can work with the objects in the same way as in the work center. In the Documents and Notes view, you can add and remove documents for this portfolio or classification hierarchy.

Miscellaneous

Users and User Roles

You can add or remove users and user roles. You can provide new authorization or change existing authorization. Any changes in the users or authorizations are inherited by the buckets within the portfolio. To display descriptions of each authorization, hold the cursor over the column headers.

The creator of the portfolio is automatically added as the default user with administration rights. To provide authorization to users, select from Admin, Write, Read, Create, Person Responsible, and Test Project Manager. To display descriptions of each authorization, hold the cursor over the column headers.
