In the dashboard of dependencies, you can see the following dependencies of a current item:

The Determining Items table contains the items on which the current item depends. In this table, you can create new dependencies or delete existing dependencies.

The Dependent Items table displays those items that depend on the current item. These dependencies cannot be changed here.

You can create only dependencies between the current item and a determining item.

Activities

Creation of New Dependency

You can create a new dependency from the dependency dashboard, by choosing Create.

Deletion of Existing Dependency

From the Determining Items table, you can delete dependencies that are no longer required. To do this, select the item, choose Delete, and then confirm the delete action.

Example

You want to upgrade the hardware and software of your corporate laptops.

  1. You create the items Laptop Purchase and Upgrade of Software. You must first carry out the laptop purchase (determining item) before you can upgrade the software (dependant item).

  2. You choose Upgrade of Software as your current item.

  3. You create an item dependency with the dependency type Finish-Start and then choose the determining item Laptop Purchase.
