Editing the Relationship Between Tasks
You specify how tasks within a project are related to one another by creating relationships between the tasks:
You can create relationships between tasks at the same level of the project structure or between tasks at different levels of the project structure.
A number of different relationship types are available. The links have a lag which can also be a negative value. The relationship influences the scheduling (see Scheduling of the project.
You can also create relationships with all four link types in the graphical view (see Graphical View).
You are in the detailed view of a project and in the structure tree (see Structure Tree) you have selected the task for which you want to edit or enter relationships. In the detail view, you have selected
the Relationships
tab.
Choose Edit
.
Enter the time interval
that should be between the two tasks.
Choose Task (Same Level)
or Task (Any Level)
.
For relationships between tasks at the same level, you can choose from all possible tasks and tasks that do not have a relationship, in the dropdown box. If there are no tasks at the same level as the task for which you want to create a relationship, or if all tasks at the same level are already linked to this task by a relationship, the field is not ready for input.
For relationships between tasks at any level, select the task from the project structure by choosing Find
.
For links between tasks at any level, select the task from the project structure by choosing Find
.
Select a task and a relationship type.
Choose Predecessor
or Successor.
The system enters the task in the corresponding table.
Note
Alternatively, you can use a drag and drop function to create relationships with other tasks. To do this, in the structure tree, left-click the task that you want to relate and move it to the Predecessor
orSuccessor
table on the Relationships
tab.
You can select objects that have the type Task
, including mirrored tasks and subtasks. You cannot drop a task that already has a relationship with the task you are currently editing. You can only create relationships to other tasks in editing mode. The function is not visible
or possible in read-only mode.
You can create relationships for a task defined as lead selection. To define a task as lead selection, select the task by directly clicking on the name. You can create relationships to the lead selection by defining a secondary selection. To define a secondary selection, select the task by clicking anywhere on the row besides the icon and the name. Whenever you change the lead selection by clicking on the name of an element, the system resets the previous secondary selection. For more information about lead selection and secondary selection, see SAP Library for SAP NetWeaver under .
Change the attributes in the table:
Select the calendar
you want to use for the relationship.
Select the relationship type you want to use for the relationship.
Save your entries.
To remove a predecessor or successor from the list, choose Delete.
