Definition of Overview
You can use this function to create, modify, or delete quick views from the quick view list in the Overview
accordion item of the side panel in Business Context Viewer (BCV). The overview is a list of query views displayed in the side panel. You can define different
overviews depending on the context key. If the context key in the application changes (for example, you select a new business object), the system refreshes the content of the query views in the Overview
accordion item automatically, if the side panel is not locked. For more
information about locking the side panel, see Side Panel.
You have the necessary authorizations, which are granted to you in one of the following ways:
In the Role Maintenance
(PFCG) transaction, you are assigned to the BCV User
(SAP_BCV_USER
) role.
On the SAP NetWeaver Portal, you are assigned to the BCV User
(com.sap.pct.bs_fnd.BCV_USR
) role.
You have defined query views that you want to use as quick views, along with their respective queries, or you use the ones predefined by SAP.
For more information, see Definition of Query Views and Definition of Queries.
The overview has the following features:
Depending on the application using BCV, you may find a set of predefined overviews in your system. For more information, see Business Content for Business Context Viewer.
You can define several overviews per context key, but you must mark one of them as default.
The quick views displayed in the side panel provide restricted functionality, due to the limited space available to offer these functions.
You can delete quick views from the overview.
To define overviews, you have the following options:
In the configuration center, choose Define Overviews
.
In Customizing, choose .
Recommendation
For more information about the values you enter in each field, see the respective field help and input help texts.
Note
In the case of Xcelsius dashboards, you should place no more than three flash players in a single Overview at the same time.
Recommendation
Using the configuration center is the recommended approach to making configuration settings in BCV. You should use Customizing only in exceptional cases. For more information, see Configuration Center.
