Function documentationClassification Hierarchy Creation

You can use this function to create a new classification hierarchy object , by choosing Start of the navigation path Portfolio and Project Administration Next navigation step Portfolios Next navigation step Classification Hierarchies End of the navigation path.

You can create the following two types of classification hierarchies :

  • Portfolio-Specific Classification Hierarchy

To create a classification hierarchy within a portfolio or classification hierarchy, select the portfolio or classification hierarchy in the dashboard and then choose Create Classification Hierarchy. The new classification hierarchy is located under the portfolio or classification hierarchy, and you can only assign items and initiatives that have already been created in the parent portfolio. You cannot create items and initiatives within this classification hierarchy, but you can create buckets.

  • Cross-Portfolio Classification Hierarchy

To create a classification hierarchy that is not within an existing portfolio, do not select a portfolio in the dashboard, but choose Create Classification Hierarchy. This classification hierarchy does not have a parent portfolio. You can assign items and initiatives that have been created in multiple other portfolios, but you cannot create items and initiatives within this classification hierarchy. You can create buckets.
